Hawk Lock? Strengths? Weaknesses?

Well, I desperately want to see what you have in store for us. The ET was a big innovation in a "cool" way, but the RAM, if people are paying attention, is the future. Maybe the MUDD too, I can't say. There are still some areas of the RAM I'd like to see improved on, but I'm completely blown away by it. It's the first time in a long time that I haven't been a bit torn on what knife to carry. You know, the new knife always has preference, but really, I just can't find a reason to carry any other knife out there. The MUDD might be too big to have that broad appeal, I can't say, but this RAM is something special. I predict that it will be a legend, akin to say the 710. And I mean that--I think we're going to be able to point to the beginning of an important trend with this knife.

I also hope to see more knives take after the RAM and MUDD.

The sealed mechanism and open construction of the MUDD make for a very useful knife. From outdoor work to kitchen duty, all you have to do when finished is rinse the thing off. Today, for instance, I was cutting up some pineapple and got juice and pineapple guts all over. All I had to do was rinse it in the sink and shake the excess water off. Ease of cleaning is up there with a fixed blade.

p.s. You get used to the size of the 0500 with time. All other blades will feel small and weak, though.

The lock has a lot going for it as far as design diversity goes. . . so far the lock has spawned the Mudd, Ram, and Combat auto (0650st). I'm looking forward to playing around with the mechanism.

Thank you, that's very kind of you to say.
Just wait until you see what else is coming. .<insert evil laugh here> . . :D

Firebert. . .How are the Combat auto handles coming?

I cut out new bookmatched blanks of Ironwood, (dark material with one gold stripe). I am carefully shaping and chiseling the lock mechanism. So far, it's going well. The slot is a perfect match to the G10. Now I just keep my fingers crossed that I don't screw something up on the rest of the steps.
