Hawk or Bowie

I reckon you might find a "tool" use for them, but that nasty-dagger-blade-on-a-stick just screams "WEAPON!" to me.

The spontoon is one of my favorite forms of tomahawk. I'd like to have one made for me someday.

depends on the 'hawk, depends on the Bowie.

IF it were a choice between a big smash mouth fighting Bowie, and a typical hawk... the Bowie hands down.

IF it were an average "bowie" (too light, too short, not enough handle etc.), VS any of the 'hawks in the above pics on this page.... the 'hawk no doubt.

Here is my Apocalypse Stick. The things that this thing has done boggle the mind. It is on my short list of things I want to take with me when I die. Along with lots of other things of mine, it is as long as it looks...

I see a dead user who has been shot 5 times as he winds up to swing this abomination!

Puh-lease. You know I'm bullet proof...
This is just to make the bad guy feel a little better in his last moments. Using one of my boom sticks just wouldn't be sporting of me. I get more exercise this way also.

Gee ! Look at that handle....are you guys sure we've not moved into the Poll Arms arena? Oh Well, I love it.

Best
Dwight

I would use my Bowie it is a custom made Randall with
a 12 in blade razor sharp and sharpened for 3in on top.

that sounds like a mighty fine blade.

i really like tomahawks combined with long blades in combatives - no need to have just one.

pretty dang nice to have just for utility in the field too.

i'm starting to feel the same way. as tools they really compliment each other too. when i camped my spike hawk wouldn't split wood but my busse battle mistress could be used with a baton.

I've recently come to prefer a medium sized knife to use in conjunction with a tomahawk.

Something say in the size of a KaBar or (one of my favorites) the BK&T #7.

I have a post set up in the woods I use for practice. I used to have an old store mannequin but he fell apart years ago. The more I practiced, the more I came to prefer a blade length of about 7" to compliment a tomahawk.

There's a trade off of course.

If you use only a tomahawk, you can deliver a two handed blow if needed, or you have an open hand for grappling, grabbing, or punching.

If you go with tomahawk & knife together, you have the obvious advantage of a weapon in each hand.

It really comes down to your own individual ability and preference... against the abilities and preferences of your opponent.
