He was a good dog.

Sorry to hear this, my condolences.. We lost our dog Boots this weekend and it was hard on me my wife and three kids. RIP Blue......and Boots.....

I hate to say it, and I know it's hard to hear right now, but I hope you'll get another dog soon. The best way to honor the memory of your dog, and be worthy of the devotion your dog had for you, is to give the love and care you had for Blue to another animal that needs it. Not to be a replacement, but a continuation. There are so many pets that need a human like you to take them into their hearts and homes. I know when Code's time comes, I won't want to hear it either, but I sure hope somebody tells me anyway. Prayers for peace and comfort.

Sorry about your loss, a fine pet provides unconditional love. Sending smoke up from the Boreal forest.

thank you all for your support. today was worse than yesterday i think, but the good wishes and prayers of all my online friends helps a lot.

Millie, my other greyhound, is doing her best to help me over the sadness. she also is 10, and so far in good health. one of my neighbours has already suggested getting her & me a new companion, i'll wait till the pain lessens a bit more before considering that.

We've got some greyhound-rescue people here in Austin; I'm sure I can do some introductions.

Meanwhile, this reminds me that i have to go walk a dog at MY end, before she turns 9...

Sorry for the loss of your friend Kronckew.

I remember your fondness for him whenever you mentioned him on the forums.

I have done what you had to do twice now, and I am crying as I type thinking about what I experienced. No words can ease your sense of loss, but read what Jake wrote above, and know that every word he wrote is the truth.

Very sorry for your loss. Dogs are truly one of God's greatest gifts to us.

My heart goes out to you, kronckew. Remembering them happy and having a good time is what I've used to help keep my heart light. Please, keep your heart light too.

Whats the deal with so many dogs getting lymphosarcoma? Lost a border collie to that disease, the guy down the block lost his retriever. And now Blue.

Smoke and prayers from Reno

I hate to see these threads, makes you think of the ones Iv'e loved and lost:oI am so sorry for your loss, she was a beauty------All the Best Butch

Mate, my heartfelt condolences for you and Blue.

I hope things are a bit easier now. Time doesn't heal but does dull some of the pain of the loss.

I believe this is only a temporary separation, that we will be reunited in the future, somewhere and somehow.

Remember’st thou my Greyhounds true?
O’er holt or hill there never flew,
From slip or leash there never sprang,
More fleet of foot, or sure of fang.

—Sir Walter Scott: Marmion: A Tale of Flodden Field

Besides his Scottish deerhound Maida, he owned greyhounds and wrote verses to them which I will spare you. I think Walter Scott is vastly underrated nowadays, but he wasn't much good at dog poetry.

Precious has leukemia. She is taking chlorambucil, three tablets every other day, and responding well. The vet says we may have her for another year or even two. She enjoys her food and walks and meeting people, but she doesn't race in the yard anymore and she used to run like lightning.
