Started out the night with a massive meal, 1/2 pound of Serrano peppers and a 1/2 pound of aged cheddar, and fresh baked bread. One of my favorite snacks!

Loaded up the backpack with knives, total weight about 20lbs of knives.

hit the road jack! the wet road, the rainy road! damn that rain was coming down hard!

parked the truck, disabled the engine, and hurried into the woods, eager on vanishing quick before anyone sees me. After all........man with backpack full of massive knives, late on a rainy night.............there is no getting around the fact that this is not a normal societal thing to do.....

but i have never really been a part of society........

I dive into the woods, crouching behind bushes as the Ranger truck passes by. I tripped the camera in the trees when i walked pass the gate......Ranger looks around, 5 feet form me, walks back to his truck and waits. Damn. If i move he will see me. I lie prone and wait. I piss out the evenings coffee to my side, steam mixing with the rain mist. Ranger drives away, i "carpe diem" and vanish into the dark wet woods.

bang my shins on a log, miss step into a puddle, but i dont dare flick on the TK11 or the 7060 flashlights...not yet, gotta hit that ridge outta sight of the service road.....

rain coming hard, the trail is thick with mud and water.

step into space and freefall. ****! catch myself sliding into darkess. pause. Take a chance and light up the TK11, shielding the beam. Oh. oops. theres a stream, i'll go that way. Hit the ridge and light up the TK11 in high setting. Disappear into the woods. heart pounding.

Hike for 30 minutes until i'm way deep into the woods and away from prying eyes.

Suddenly!!!!

HE WHO WALKS THE WET WOODS AT NIGHT WITH KNIVES is spotted!!!!!!!!!!

the sounds of tools chopping wood echo in the wet night woods. I kill the lights and look around, heart thumping. Whats that? foot steps? rain? wind? i spin in a circle with the lights, looking for someone.....no one....its my own psyche working overtime.......

I sit for a bit, listening to the rain in the woods....

hike back to the truck.......

see 3 shadowy figures by my truck....WTF? i stop, hidden in the dark. They rooting around in my truck bed. I get pissed off and walk out onto the road, TK11 in one hand, 7060 light in the other. Click both switches and pit lamp the ******** teenagers by my truck. They freak out and think i'm the cops and run to their car. I run towards them two lights blinding them. They peel out and leave most of their quarter panel behind when they strike a massive rock placed by the rangers as a decorative rock. I look at my truck, i'm missing 10 liter of gas out of my jerry can. &*^*$#$$&*^*&(&*(&%^$^ special place in hell for thieves....

that was my short but sweet little woods hike tonight!

were probably stealing the gas to sniff it, luckily you got there before they did some damage or stole something valuable.

haha, nice man, nothing like a Jont in the dark woods when its raining, especially hiding from someone, and scaring people, man what a night!

Thats one thing I miss about growning up, all the woods and a few people around, I just wish I would have got paid for sculking in the woods.

Awesome.

hahaha yup!

oh and just for Kicks and Giggles.........................

bonus points to whoever can find that EXACT fallen tree , photograph it, and post it up here.there is a little prize!

too early for the big cats! they start wandering the trail around late march........ They spook easily too..... here, whereas on Vancouver island they are more aggressive.

gonna be difficult without some hints :D

He's probibly back in lower conservation reserve telling from the forest ranger, trip camera, and the dark soil from the fire. It is possible he's on cypress though. He said he went threw a stream and over the ridge. If you do the scavenger course i think you'll find the stream and ridge he's talking about. Should be enough to start on, just follow the wood chips.

Looks like you have lots of fun toys. Piece of advice, would be a good idea for you to leave a note on your dashboard just saying your out walking around and not lost. If they find a car left in a parking around there lot they assume a lost person and send out search and rescue. Happened to a friend, rather awkward. sucks to get called out at 12:00 at night when these guys have work to go to in the morning.

mmm good point about the note. part of me WANTS to leave a note, as I have been called out before for missing hikers....however, because its the city - part of me does'nt want to advertise that i'm going to be a while......too many thieves in the area....

oh and Munky88 got where i was. :)

Great post Bushman5!

The adventures of Damp Clandestine Nocturnal Rambo continue.

All the best,

- Mike

Great stuff buddy, I'll warn ya the next time I come over to the mainland cos if we were to bump into each other in the dark both carrying large knives we'd both fill our pants !!!!

Classic Bro! Just the kind of stuff I like to do, well after a few drinks anyhow.:D

Seriously though, thanks for sharing. I love night time rainwalks.
