Great pics - looks like some unique terrain. The only places I have hiked with boulders like that have been above the tree line. It's neat to see big rocks strewn about at a lower elevation. Thanks for sharing!
As for the flat-top rock formation, that's definitely Close Encounters territory. Keep up the hiking, but be on the lookout for Richard Dreyfuss types, and try not to build little mountains out of mashed potatoes.
