They just don't want to make any promises. I'm still thinking this year, but late spring.

Ah, so they added a locking feature. Probably helps with anti-rattle as well. Very cool.

why would you say that? KaBar almost never ever sells sheaths solo.

I meant just the lock, and hardware sold separately.

The new sheath is softer & has little to no retention with out the lock.
I think it will rattle less both on the knife and other gear it might knock against.
the lock would add extra security to the old sheath, that might be nice.

KABAR prefers the not so obvious method, apparently. I'd be willing to pay a bit more money for a decent kydex sheath.
