The question is not whether ivory is or is not a good handle material but whether someone should be able to tell me I cannot use it.
Ivory is a fantastic handle material because of it's beauty ,it's easy to carve
or scrimshaw and is still secure in your grip when wet. It is also very beautiful and traditional.It has a nice weight and makes for a nice balance.
Some knives need ivory. I am someday going to have a nice San Fransisco gold
rush bowie made and I am going to use ivory for the handles because that was
what they used then.
I am also going to get another one of those Coon skin(raccoon) hats with the raccoons head for the brim so I have something to wear on my trip to London next year.
