Got the following email series today:

Why is it that its ALWAYS a user with a paying membership that wins? Every time without fail, a gold member wins. And again with the firekit competition, a gold member won. Seems a little corrupt and ridiculous. It happens too much for it to be a coincidence. Even though i am a gold member, on my other bladeforums accounts, i enter them in the competition and they never win. I have about 9 accounts and nothing. And looking through all the other competitions, its fucking ridiculous how a paying member always wins. You moderators here are all corrupt pieces of SHIT. Fuck u all.

And got this in reply:
Reason for 9 accounts is that i have a better chance of winning you dumb fucker. And i can spam all i want from a different account. You cant prove i really am Somber though cause i registered with a different email address. ill be on bladeforums for a while. What you gona do fatboy? And im a paying gold member. So, the guy claims he's "Somber" - of course the thing is, the email address he used was david.david12@yahoo.com which tracked back to another, different profile - "Nub" who unsurprisingly has the other accounts associated with his same home static IP address: 70.161.172.121 [Find More Users with this IP Address]

That's right, guys - a member of the group has been registering multiple accounts trying to "win" more knives and is trying to screw the rest of you over. I don't know if he's also Somber, or trying to get Somber banned by faking his name in the email, but he's managed to get 3 of his accounts terminated here.

It's my suggestion that you guys limit contests to forum members with paid subscriptions; at least that way we can verify it isn't some guy who has registered tons of free profiles trying to win free stuff.
 
Wow. Such nerd rage over something he was cheating at anyway. I guess these types will always be around. At least until they walk the plank. ;) Good idea on the paid subscription thing tho. I guess I need to renew. :o
 
So with the ESEE mods restrict contests to paying members only or will it remain only to Rat Pack?

There you have it folks, no matter how good you try to be to some people, they spoil it for the rest. Screw these type of folks, we don't want 'em here and don't want them buying our knives or winning our stuff.

So, I say we limit new contests to paid BF members and they don't have to be a RAT Pack member.
 
well that is ashame that it came to that for freebies. people have lost what the "pack" is about. kinda saddening in a sense.

edit: if i remember correctly nub was an ESEE hater, why would he want this stuff anyway? ;)
 
I tell you what, I sure appreciate all the contests we have around here. I’ve won some great stuff in participation contests, never random a drawing yet though.

I’ve said this a dozen times but what frosts my nuts is the people we’ve never heard any kind of useful discussion from who wake up every morning and search BF for the word “contest” and “giveaway” so they can enter. Track those people through the exchange and see how much of that stuff they sell.

Word of mouth gets around. ESEE gives away a lot of stuff, no wonder the RP has quadrupled in a year.

ETA, oh damn it was rc3mil.

It pisses me off that he would even accuse the moderators here (and Spark) as being "corrupt"

If that's how he wants to feel then that's fine by me but maybe he should set up his own forum software and run it sometime. Maybe he should start his own knife business, company etc.

I know one thing for sure, Spark has a HELLUVA lot of cost in running these forums and never asks for anything from us as members. I'm not as pissed about the bastard trying to get free knives as I am about how he claims corrpotuion with the mods and Spark.

I'm thinking we need to get with Spark and come up with some type of a give away from ESEE for the first so many members who get a paid subscription.

I'll get with TTD and Mr. S in the next couple of days and we'll figure something out.

It's not the complaining I have an issue with. People complain all the time. It was the unprovoked personal attacks that I have a problem with.

That's pretty sad, though. I'm not sure I understand being mad over a contest. It's not like you actually lose anything by not being the winner.

That's too bad. I enjoyed rc3's posts usually.
 
if we make the contests for paying members it could be an incentive to upgrade and help the site, which im all for. but the odds of winning would be even worse, not that i am mad but i find it ironic.

also somber = rc3mil = mlu359 = nub? this is starting to get confusing :eek:
 
I guess it was just a matter of time. What a jerk.

I suppose that now the giveaways won't require a RAT Pack number, we will really find out who is here for what reason.

most of us here are in a sense paying member (don't hate me here :D :D :D)... i mean... i've bought two ESEE knives already and I love them and that's why I am here...

I understand your point but Bladeforums has nothign to do with ESEE knives in the business sense. In other words, just becasue you buy an ESEE knife you are supporting ESEE, not Bladeforums. It will take us a while to think about how we are going to do the new contests and giveaways but whatever we do we definitley want to put some "help" in there for the forums, and that's not happening now.
 
Its a damn shame that some f*ckwhit has to, possible, ruin it all.
And why attack Spark the 'only' thing he did was making a great place with great people and companies

I didn't enter many of the contests, but I did get a kick out of the ones I DID get into.

RC3MIL...I've seen that name around here a few times. Hope he gets crotch ulcers for doing this to everybody who might have entered the contests from the guys at RAT. Who, btw, are more than gracious with the amounts of stuff they give away.

Life is hard, but for a dumbass it must be brutal.
