Heads up regarding contests: account spamming a-holes

Why don't you just have the contests open to everyone but if the person who wins isn't a member, they have to become one before you send the item.

I wonder if that guy emails MEGA BUCKS every week and complains to them about not winning the lotto??

Again, that's already been basically discussed. That still will not keep someone from havign a dozen fake memberships to win a 100 dollar knife and only have to pay 10 if he wins.

Pls don't let a dumb action of one guy mess up the good spirit found in these forums. There's hundreds of RP members who enjoy these forums and contests every day.

If you don't want a single guy entering several times make the contest more like the PSK fishing contest or the Ad contest so people have to actually make something themselves to enter.

I came here to say basically the same thing. If you make giveaways into contests instead of lotteries, multiple accounts will not make as much sense. I'm obviously biased since I'm not a paying member, but that's my two cents. And really, I'm not going to complain if you stop giving stuff away altogether. The problem with free stuff is people start to think they're entitled to it.

Understand your point but if we are going to take it to that level, the contests are still not free because you have to pay for internet service (or someone does) to even get on here and participate.

i don't think internet counts :D :D :D come on... let's not be that picky... :D :D :D

again... i am good with whatever you guys do...

i was just saying that the best part of this forum was what you could get without having to be a paying member... when this happens, it will just be another forum where you have to pay to get all the benefits...

it was fun to think you could win stuff though... :D

Not trying to debate you, but information will always be free and we give a LOT of that out here on the forums. We don't have a problem giving away even more product than before but we want to make sure from this point that BFs is benefitting from this as much as the members on here. So, the benefits of getting a basic subscription would actually increase your chances of winning a product.

increase??? meaning contests will still be open for everyone, but if you pay you'll have more chances... COOL!!!

No, contests would only be open to paying subscribers but we would increase the amount of stuff we give away so you would have more chances. We're talking about investing 10 bucks for a sub.

One way to filter out multiple accounts is require entrants be registered on BF for X amount of time (maybe a year? two?).

That also could be combined with the subscription requirement.

i guess 10 bucks a year is not bad...

i agree with you INCREASING the number of contests... but no time requirement.. 1 year is too long :D :D :D

i'll pay the 10 bucks...

another option...

random contests open for members only... but those contests where you actually have to do something open to everyone!!! :D

kreole, I hope you and everyone else appreciates how much effort the owners and mods on this forum put in to organize all this -- rat pack, giveaways, new gear. Checking IPs, counting posts for an RP#, checking account seniority dates, great, let's make everything they do add up to a ten hour day. :p

One bad apple spoils the barrel.

Damn, you're harsh. In two years I'll be in to bagpiping and will be on to the new BF....Bagpipe Forum...

I'm going to close this thread for now (mods and Spark can still post in here). Spark and the mods and I are going to take it to the mod section and see what we can work out. Will let yall know when we get something figured out. We do appreciate all of you.
