Heads up regarding contests: account spamming a-holes

i don't think contests should be restricted to paying members... maybe those who come up with the contests should do a bit more research on who is winning that's all...

most of us here are in a sense paying member (don't hate me here )... i mean... i've bought two ESEE knives already and I love them and that's why I am here...

just my 2 cents...

$10 basic membership is paid for the first time you win even a fire kit.

Anyone that has to mange 9 ghost accounts to try and win a knife doesn't have time to use a knife, nor need one.

not to mention if you win an actual knife. and i agree with Jeff, how can a person have 9 accounts and have any time to do anything? they might as well work and buy what they are trying to win at that rate.

I understand your point but Bladeforums has nothign to do with ESEE knives in the business sense. In other words, just becasue you buy an ESEE knife you are supporting ESEE, not Bladeforums. It will take us a while to think about how we are going to do the new contests and giveaways but whatever we do we definitley want to put some "help" in there for the forums, and that's not happening now.

i see your point and i am ok with whatever you guys decide... too bad that i came to this though... it was fun having the hope to win something

From the disrespect he paid Spark, I’d bet rc3mil is in college at the very oldest. I know in college my ass couldn't even afford a $10 membership. That was a case of Nat Light! I'm sure there are paying members as well, but I'd bet a good chunk of these tools just set up a dozen free accounts.

the thing with this is where would you draw the line? people with like 1000 posts get to enter and only with a gold membership? platinum? it could get to be a very slippery slope.

If you don't want a single guy entering several times make the contest more like the PSK fishing contest or the Ad contest so people have to actually make something themselves to enter.

That's actually a good idea but once we revamp this I still want to see BFs get something out of it as well.

Honestly, however Jeff decides to, or to not give away his companies product, I don't think I have a lot of input.

Sometimes I wonder how old some of the members are here by the way they act or just lash out at random people who don't even have anything to do with the issue. What a friggin IDiot. Ok, and a LOSer too. 9 memberships?? I got one so that if I lose, I'm just a loser, not a NINE TIME Loser, times how many contests he's lost. Too funny Too bad there's not an A--hole firewall which can be installed to keep these types out like a spam filter.

I agree with that Spark. I even give paying members 10% off some of the knives I sell on the exchange., This site offers so much. There is no excuse for cheating and then complaining about who wins.

BF already get their share of their business... that's why they have paid and free memberships... otherwise they would not have the free memberships at all...

Understand your point but if we are going to take it to that level, the contests are still not free because you have to pay for internet service (or someone does) to even get on here and participate.

Why don't you just have the contests open to everyone but if the person who wins isn't a member, they have to become one before you send the item.

I just upgraded my subscription. I don't mind paying for something that I use this often. I look forward to being able to come here after work. (And during work sometimes!) I am more than willing to support bladeforums because I think it is worth it. I don't think there should be too many requirements to enter contests though because you could end up excluding a lot of people who don't deserve it.
