Heat and sizzle

For anyone who is interested, the heat has already been re incarnated ! if you pick up a 2007 remington firearms catalog & go to the knife section, theres a new assisted opening knife called the swift lokt 2.0L ;its the exact blade of the heat ,3 1/2" blade, with a neat anodized aluminum handle with rubber inserts & a sliding safety in the handle.theres also a drop point ,a tanto, & a 3" blade version with the clip, drop point, & tanto, too.model number is 19293........

The Remington Swift-Lokt was out long before Camillus droped the Heat Knife. The knife is presented as an assisted opening knife, not Robo Powered. The design looks allot like the Heat (a copy). And the tang trigger looks real close to the heat. I think the real question would be China or Taiwan? Remingtons notorious move to China manufacturing would lean to China.

Speaking of that, does anyone else feel that the loss of the Remington contract pushed camillus out of business? Lets face it when Remington called on China do make all of their new knives Camillus lost allot of work.

Don't forget the loss of the Sears contract. Sears was an important retailer of Camillus knives (and Schrade knives) for nearly the whole of this past century. In fact, without the Sears/Dunlap/Baer nexus, neither cutlery would have survived, much less grown during the lean years when others were folding. Sears no longer sells knives. Well, unless you call that folding utility cutter a knife.

I have that exact large lockback (marked "Craftsman") from when I was in high school in the early 1980s and had a couple of the smaller lockbacks.

My sister gave me the small stockman in the photo above while I was in college (probably 1986 or so) and it's one of if not the most treasured item in my entire collection. In addition to it being from my sister, she gave it to me when she couldn't afford a gift, but she knew I loved knives and bought the stockman for me somehow.

She was embarrassed because it was so small and because she didn't know if I would like it or not. I loved it and used it like crazy for a year or so until I retired it when the blades started diminishing from a lot of sharpening.

I found what I feel is a good deal on the Camillus Heat Knives.

I purchased 5 Heat knives with the silver plain blade $23.99 each and shipping was only $5.00. The the person on the phone said this was a special buy. The knives are not seconds, but they did not have a box or pouch. "He said the knives are in excellent condition". Well I got the knive and they are in excellent condition. If anyone is looking for these knives, www.ridgeknifeshop.com I think he is CRKS on this forum.

PS: I anyone knows where I can get a BK1 I'm all ears
