Heat Bath parks oil problem.

I got my last P-50 through a friend who owns a very large company, he said he had never had so much trouble ordering a product of any kind in his life.

Stacy is dead on with how to communicate when placing an order.

The above guy who ordered my last P-50 from Heat Bath, ordered 4, five gal pails. He owns a $50,000,000 company, so I will assume he knows how to order stuff :). He told me he had to have his lawyers draw up papers (mostly liability) to get this stuff. Said it would have be easier to order explosives!

It appears to me, that they are content with their regular customers and do not want new business. Very strange situation!

Don,
Liability is the answer I received straight from Heat Bath here in Michigan. That it is policy NOT to sell to knifemakers because we are "backyard" and are not OSHA approved. I will dig thru my emails and send it to you.

I agree that it seems strange when they won't sell to a large shop or a professional knifemaker who wants to use their product. I believe it may be a problem of how the order is placed. If you call like a hobbyist ,making statements and asking questions that raise red flags....You may not get any service.
If you call like a business that uses oil, and sound professional and knowledgeable, then you get a pallet. Calling to order a single pail will most likely get you no where. They just aren't set up for small orders. They may not even be set up for things like credit card orders. Many of the suppliers I deal with bill me, and don't want to deal with phone pre-payment.

You get the point.
Stacy

I do this at work all the time, I called one of our suppliers interested in stuff for myself, and spoke as such, and could barely get a quote. Called again and spoke properly and formerly and had a quote in less than 5 minutes.

Patrick at flyingsteel.com is your best bet for Parks oil.

It was too expensive to have shipped to Canada but Patrick responed quickly and gave me all the info I needed to make a decision.

I ended up going with Houghton Quench "K"...... they had Canadian facilities and I hear the HQ oils have a longer life than Parks. I can't back that up, though.
