here's a couple shots of a project in progress. Right now all blades are heat treated and sanded to 400 grit. Full zero grind convex edges (including the reverse edges) on forged L6, around about 3/16 at the tang.

Tangs are still rough, because I am fine fitting the scales on and then shaping the tang rears to have a slight protruding tang and lanyard hole.

And yes, as with most of my thicker blades, someone in particular ordered them. :D

Looks good but I wonder who asked for that controversial swedge?

Wonder what the scales will be? ;)

Awesome work Christof, …I like this trend toward some bigger blades.

the swedge is actually sharpened on all of them. I'm fifty fifty on it. From a construction perspective, it helps with the distal :D (I know, careful forging helps, too)- If you want the back cutting, then by all means, do it right.

not sure why the ordering party want them, but he's pretty specific about them being *usable*, and that satisfies me.

Whoah, that long one is like a sword, similar size and shape as my 12 inch tramontina.
I think I would like having that weight and battoning at the end then the swedge, but it does look pretty cool.
Can't wait to see it finished.

IIRC, when a Swedge is ground to a sharpened edge it technically becomes a False Edge.

Some say I’m a bit anal.

But I am a fool for big blades. :p

Cool...where did you score the L6?

Old stock from a blacksmith friend. He's got (small) piles of all sorts of stuff hanging around, he recently tossed my a dozen cold chisel (?) blanks of A6, too.

Oh crap, no you are making thick blades too. I loved the 3/16ths Fiddleback I played with yesterday and now this. Bring on the Zombies!

I wouldn't. Considering a forum of this kind is to further people's knowledge, accuracy is welcome. And that is not aimed at anyone, rather an observation.

Nice looking blades, koyote.

I've got a few real zombie knives out there. But yeah, the reverse edges on these are pretty wicked. And the spearpoints are deadly. ask my right hand

I just personally avoid the term false edge, it's so inherently contradictory. I do think you are correct, though. In this case, I tend to just call it the reverse edge, but that's probably not right, either.
