HEAVY DUTY firepit?

Some people I know go and buy a piece of a big culvert and bury it in the ground. Not the fanciest, but it works.

Head down to the John Deere dealership (or any other farm implement dealer) and pick up a tractor wheel rim - you should be able to buy an old used one for not too much. Really heavy steel with a big bead on the top and bottom. Cut a piece of diamond mesh to fit across half of it to grill off of.

Make your own like I did:

I found a square sewer drain, (the sleeve part, not the square grate), that is absolutely perfect. It's about 7 inches high, with a 4'' lip, made from 1/2 steel and only weighs about 300 pounds. :D

I think it'll last me a good long time.

Yup, old slightly bent, tractor rims are what gets used most for fire rings around here.

My neighbors have a nice heavy duty one and the steel is like 1/4 inch thick. I asked them where they got it at once and it turns out they nicked it from a campground they were visiting.
