Hell Razor or Team Gemini?

Tean Gemini because it's meatier and because it's on a TV show.

More INFI > Less INFI

'Nuff said

:D

Hell Razor because it's plenty meaty and much lighter on your hip.

The INFI that is light enough to carry and still get the job down > the INFI back at camp. :D

It's not like we're talking about a MOAB. A TG is still light enough to pack around without notice.

The TG is still on a TV show so it makes it 100% better :D

If "looks" are important a TG with the upper eyelet ground off ( see Al Sheik's ) would be my choice. The upper eyelet only makes sense for stabbing and needing a quillion like a dagger ... where as the ability to use your thumb on the spine for fine work makes the knife much more practical as a knife.

By rights this issue ought to have me saying the Hellrazor ... but to me it never had anything going for it on the shape of the knife ... not that this should matter ... each to their own taste ...

In the 7 inch blade category I agree with those who say the knife should be light enough to have on your belt and not feel uncomfortable ... I like the Camp Tramp for this reason but it is'nt Infi ... however I ran the Camp Tramp against a Skinny Ash and an Ash LE and a SFNO LE and it did better at the tasks I tried ... for this reason you don't see many on the exchange ... a lot cheaper than the other choices too.

I always wanted a camp tramp. I ordered a 711 about a week ago and can't wait to try it out. I was resisting, waiting for the B8, but it is just way too good of a deal to pass up. I think the Res-C lines are way underrated over here in this forum.

Team Gemini (the mini-Gladius) cause it feels so "right" in the hand.

On my user TG I have never had an issue with the upper guard being in the way when choking up on the blade.

The guard disappears in the gap between the thumb and palm.

Clearly from all the comparison pics, a TG would be the best choice.

To develop skills with a knife for working wood to fashion traps and other tools Mors Korchanski developed the idea of carving a practise stick. This incorporates many of the carvings needed for traps and fire lighting ... here is a pic of one ...

He said that by the end of carving one you would have an idea whether your knife was going to be comfortable and practical ... if the TG is comfortable at the end of doing one of these then you're good to go

I suspect the top eyelet will be playing havoc with your thumb ... I may well be wrong though ... it would'nt be the first time :D

Thanks for the interesting picture of the practice stick. To be honest I grab something like a killa zilla for the big stuff and a rodent solution for fine work. Interference by the top guard on the TG would no doubt depend on each individual's hand. When choked up pressing down the guard sits beside my palm and barely brushes the webbing of the thumb. I have found the guard useful while twisting the blade to hog out chips - Bringing the thumb down across the blade will bring the top-side of the thumb in contact with the side of the upper guard to provide excellent leverage for edge abuse. On a lesser knife this amount of twisting pressure would probably result in a chipped or broken edge. That guard is nicely rounded smooth so provides more a tactile feeling of control rather than discomfort - for my hand anyway.

To quell any second thoughts about the cross guard, I'd like to bring up this great post by Tim: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-or-should-you-get-an-LBTG-thoughts-PIC-HEAVY

I've never noticed the top guard getting in my way. You'd be hard pressed to find someone without joints in his thumb or a crook in his palm :o the top guard would be a problem for these guys. I say you should try it out before you get worried over it. A lot of contoured handles are really comfortable because our hands have swells and crooks in them, so it would be odd in my opinion to start demanding flat spines because of the Team Gemini's top guard but ignore handle contours, palm swells, etc.

I don't like the grind on Hell Razor and I don't like the spine guard on Team Gemini so... go NMSFNO, & put on a proper edge on it, then you can build can cabin with it Pronto:eek::D

That link to Tim's article reminds me why I like Al Sheik's modd'ed knife so much ( see his pic's further down ) ... the TG has some sweet smooth hand shaped grips and without the upper eyelet it just looks great to me ! The fuller should lighten the blade and give a belt carry option without any issues. I appreciate that I have'nt tried working the knife with an upper eyelet so I won't belabour the issues I think it poses.
