Hello fellow blade Lovers, and OMG I broke my BK2 !!

Overly skeletonised tang. And probably a HT error?

I dont get why a suposedly tough knife would have a skeletonised handle in the first place. To save on weight? To improve 'balance'??

Surely all it does is send the balance point up the blade a few centremeters and take away what, 100-150grams? If balance is an issue why not design it with a tapered tang like the fallkniven f1 to reduce weight while not having such gapeing tangs cutouts??

Because the 5" thing weights 16 ounces already, which is 0.9 ounces lighter than what a 10" Lile Rambo "The Mission" weights... With a full tang, the 5 ounces you say it would add would bring weight up to 21 ounces, or over 1.3 pounds for something with the edge lenght of a large folder... Can you imagine?

Usually that type break in that area comes from batoning and impacting too far back with the blade stuck hard in a knot. Sometimes a bit tilted. Very rare to break one of those just chopping. It's a PITA to get it replaced but they will take care of you.

That's why I treat my ESEE's like shit.

They don't care what I do to the knife so I don't. They'll replace it ASAP.
