Hello, first post and lefty EDC folder question

Hi, I'm sorry about that. I have NO idea what you mean...

Apparently all WE did was place the clip on the solid side.

#2. You could end up with a drawer full of $20 junk knives or buy a good knife to begin with.

There are a few good suggestions above. Personally I'd look hard at the Kizer Gemini (smooth rounded body) but that's my preference for strong design aesthetics showing itself.

.

Welcome! I would suggest, if you budget allows it bite the bullet and buy a benchmade. I always recommend quality over quantity.

The clip is switched for left hand carry. The knife (lock) is not made to be left handed.
I find it hilarious that companies try to trick or tell lefties to adapt to a right hand knife.
Why isn't it that right handlers should adapt to left hand knives?
Fortunately there are some dedicated lefty makers out there.

Another lefty here, Spyderco floats my boat. In addition to the left hand Military and Paramilitary 2, they probably have the most fully ambi options out there (slip-joints, back locks, cbbl).

Benchmade's axis lock is certainly well-regarded as well, I just don't have any.

As a fellow southpaw, I honestly like having my knife in my right pocket. My gun stays on my strong side, not my knife. Maybe that's just me though. Keeps my chi centered and stuff. Of you lefties who carry a gun, how to you position belt knives?

Dpx makes the best bang for the buck edc lefty. The hest f triple black left hand. Titanium, G10, German niolox steel 3.25" blade and the best pocket clip in the business. It ain't no wimpy thin blade like pretty much everything out there. Retail about 200 bucks.

If they come out with an Urban left-handed, I'm in.

I called them and they said there are plans to do a lefty urban but no timeframe. That was November 2018. Fingers crossed but it doesn't hurt to contact them to show interest.

I carry gun cross draw small of back with folder in left pocket and fixed on right with edge forward.
Sometimes I carry gun on left leg with tac rig but knives remain the same. If I'm carrying just a knife then it go's left side forward tilt edge back, folder still left pocket.

Another southpaw here.... just like everything else in a right handed world, when I started carrying a knife 30+ years ago, there was no such thing as a left-handed knife. I do a lot of things right handed (or ambidextrously), carrying a knife is just another one of them.

But, I carry my CCW strong side at 8:00, and occasionally pocket carry in the left front, so keeping the knife clipped in the right front works just fine for me...

Won't help you OP but I'm ambidextrous.

I shoot & write left handed and play sports & hold knives right handed. So, the right hand bias of most folding knives isn't a problem for me. However, there are a variety of knives that are ambidextrous or made specifically for left handers.

I started collecting knives w/cheap Kershaws and CRKTS and then moved up to move expensive ZTs and Spydercos. Also collect Benchmades, MicroTechs, Protechs, Cold Steel and a few other brands.

I wouldn't say that I wasted $ on the Kershaws and CRKTs. Collecting them laid the groundwork to buy the more expensive ZT/Spydercos (and other knives) by making clearer to me what kind of knives I liked best and what things to look for in "better" knives. This was a learning process and something that will not come to you overnight.

I still have all of the Kershaws/CRKTS that I bought early on and do not feel compelled to sell them because they didn't cost much, are still useful and I wouldn't get much back for them if I tried to sell them. So, why bother? I am also buying more of them; I'm just more selective about it now than I was before.

You can also feel freer to make buying mistakes at the $20-50 level than you would (unless you're well off) at the $100-200 level. However, if you want to buy just 1 good knife, Spyderco makes a left handed version of the Para Military which always tops various knife buying lists as one of (if not) the "best EDC." They also make a left handed Military but that's probably more knife than you'd want to carry as an EDC.

Dude what are you waiting for, buy a lefty CRK and level up already.

It is the only logical step in your life now.

The Lefty Gemini is worth every penny! It seems that Kizer is the only high end Chinese manufactured who is actually making an effort to produce true lefty knives. They seem to release about 1 every 9 months or so. I've heard WE might put out a lefty, but I aint holding my breath.

Here are quite a few of the dedicated leftys available. Some are harder to come by than others, but if you look hard enough you'll find it.

Kizer Sheepdog, Kizer Gemini, Kizer Megatherium, Kizer Megatherium Black

I'm an ambi but I'm much more southpaw on many tasks including shooting, but over the years the lack of southpaw options in firearms, I learned long ago to adapt to right handed guns. I also learned how to shoot right handed. I still shoot left as its much more comfortable but I'm glad I didnt resist figuring out how to shoot a right hand only gun, using my left. my long point. it's worth the effort to adapt to right hand tools using your left. also worth learning how to use both hands. you'll adapt much faster than you think you will.

on knives I'm much more ambi and I struggled on liner and frame locks lefty, but I have a decent ability now and once again worth it. lefty options are much better today but I dont want to be limited in choices.

as for cheaper knives. I tend to use more expensive ones and the cheaper ones get knocked down to dirty nasty tasks or sit unused. everyone is different and that may not happen to you. just my thoughts and experiences.

My most carried knife is a <$30 SAK Tourist (smaller version of the Spartan), which I have carried every day for decades. I would be lost without it. I, too, am ambidextrous in certain tasks, but my left is dominant. I swing a bat or a golf club right handed. I shoot a hand gun with either hand, but a rifle feels strange right handed. It's weird how that works ...

I always reach for a knife with my left hand. I find that I'm often bitten when I try frame or liner locks, so I avoid those -- though I never tried one set up for lefties. Most of the other locks are pretty easily manipulated with the left hand, but often the deployment (thumb stud) or the pocket clip are set up for right side carry only.

I have a schrsds scha3 magic assisted opening. It's right handed to lick the blade in the handle but can open it with handed

I have gifted a Manix 2 to a lefty friend that wanted a harder use EDC and it has not left his pocket in over 3 years.

Ru talking 2me?

If so, I think you missed the part where I said that I'm ambi and shoot left handed and carry/handle knives right handed.
