Hello!

Ron and Frank, you're welcome. Whirled Peas.

BTW...that is a line from the movie "Stripes". Where the guy (Francis) is saying "anyone touch my stuff, I'll kill you!". The sergeant says "Lighten up Francis".

I am signed up as "Buckwheat" on your gig Ron.

We would all be curious to know if blade swaps are back!

Ron - (or Jeff, or Scott, or whoever  ) -

IIRC, LaBella is asking for a repair, with a paid upgrade option...not exactly the same as a blade swap, but maybe enough of a loophole that Joe can slip it through...without us noticing... ;)

So what you are saying then is all I have to do is send in my "broken" 110  for warranty work and include extra for a new upgraded warrany replacement blade? :D That didnt seem to be the case with my Alpha folder I dinged this past deer season but I am now curious :D

I can see how this will go "Uhh, yeah, hi Joe, yep, I dropped 5 of my standard 110's and they all had the tip break, yeah I know its weird, could you please replace (not swap) all 5 to S30V?" LOL :D (please notice the smiley and the LOL)
Thanks :D

...JIM!!!... :D I got it now! ;)

Yeah, that's the loophole that I think would allow Joe to "upgrade" warranty knives...but the price may be more than you'd expect...lemme just take a quick look here at how much a Custom Shop S30V blade is versus the Standard blade...

That's odd...S30V is not offered on Custom Shop 110's...this week, anyway...ATS-34 and BG-42 are on the option list...at $15 and $19 over standard...

Now what's going on???

HHmmm BG-42.... Ats-34? 154CM!!!!
I could live with both of those also!
I dont think I could bear to "drop" my standard 110's on the tip for the upgrade anyway :D
I Just better order another Cabelas AG 110 :D

That's not a problem...here's what you do...have a 6-pack of whatever you prefer (Hamm's, or maybe Lone Star) and then hold the blade against a 1/2" Grade 8 bolt and smack it with your BMFH...

It should cut through the bolt...

If not, the warranty applies... ;)

(Warning! Professional on closed course! Do not attempt this at home!)

Ron:

That's not a bad site you have there. With better organization, individual knife manufacturers categories, and the absence of filthy material, that could grow to be quite a site. That's the second best knife site I have personally visited. It's much better than knifeforums...but it's not BladeForums.

Buck, sorry that you are bothered by the free speech/ visuals over at Ron's other little cubby, but it's okay not to look at them

JD is one of the best bars on the internet, I drink there often. Now can we get back to discussing Ron's knife a little?

Mr. LaBella - I'd not swap the blade steel out were I you - none of the maintenance guys I've ever talked with about their 110's complained about the blade steel, and there's one or two of them out there with a Buck 110 that's about 30 years old on their belts.

But it's your knife, so make you happy, not me. Just post me a few pics when you're done and see if they can re-stamp that blade with the Anvil logo.

You may be onto something Mr. Parker, sir. Thanks for the insight

Ron

Buck 110 you are embarassing me. Please let's all get on with our knives.............

I can't wait to hear someone from Buck has my knife in hand.

Ron

well, I left my name, phone number etc. in the package. I have not heard from anyone at Buck as of yet regarding my repair. I am just curious if this is standard procedure or does the turn around lead into more delays? I am not growing impatient, I am just asking, I suppose.

Cheers

Ron LaBella

Yes it is. Buck is notoriously silent about ongoing operations to your knife. Buck will eventually send you an email saying the knife has shipped. Then about a week later, it will show up. They've been shipping UPS lately, so pray to whatever gods you prefer that UPS doesn't screw your shipment up, too...
