Help a gal out? (Purchasing Advice!)

You can get a Kershaw shallot in Damascus for about 95$.. it a decent size 3.5" blade and assisted opening with stainless steal handles.. very durable.. American company but over seas produced... I would still consider it...

I kinda feel if he lost a trident, loved his trident and its in the price range then get him the trident. Everyone is going to recommend what they personally like when the important thing is what your husband likes. Just my thoughts on it.

I concur with purple above
BUT you might find a picture of a damascus shallot and show it to him and ask is this what you mean by damascus?
If he thinks it's cool then you know his reaction
Like the SOG it is assisted opening
but it uses a flipper not a thumbstud

How about the Sog Flash? That has a assisted you can lock or unlock. Good for beating on. My Scoutmaster had it for years and his still is working good. That comes in Aus-8 steel thats made in Japan, and then the thing is assembled here in the USA. 35 bucks on Amazon right now. Another you might want to get him is one of the cheaper Spyderco's. Someone mentioned a Delica, which is a nice knife. I'd also say look at the Sog Twitch II with is made in the USA out of Aus-8. You can also get a Benchmade Griptillian for ballpark a hundred on BladeHQ

I would get him a $100 BladeHQ gift card and let him pick what he wants.

That's what I would rather have. If you pick out a knife he doesn't like - he'll feel obligated to carry it.

Can't go wrong with a Spyderco Delica or Endura depending on how big of a knife he likes. My favorite modern folder is the Waved Endura and I'm sure his eyes will light up if you get him this knife.

$70 on Amazon.

I will throw this out there, dave Anderson the Kershaw guy has some very nice knives on his site, good prices and genuine. he also has some blems in Damascus. google the Kershaw guy and pick what you think he would like.

I know it has been mentioned a few times already, but I'll do it again because the House of Blades Exclusive Link in one heck of a deal!!
Had mine for a few months and I have beat it like I stole it......just keeps coming back for more!
Great colors, sweet looking, great action and locks up TIGHT!! I am really liking it!

if he is using it for work, and it was a sog, look for a coldsteel . you can get a recon1 for 80 bucks, and it will have xhp steel. recon 1 is arguably the strongest folder out there .

I had a blur with serrated blade.... Don't. Those are not sharp in the slightest, they are more round and did nothing for me in my edc tasks. Plus the tip broke off with minimal effort. Not to mention sharpenin a recurve is not exactly fun without the right tools (tho easy enough with sandvic steel and the corner of a sharpening stone). Sorry just adding my 2cents that annoyed me with that blade. I have since got the s30v non see blade and while I like it alot, hate sharpening it even more so. A recurves primary function is for tasks like cutting rope. So recommend highly if his EDC is doing this often.

I personally would go Spyderco...But...

For about 30 above your budget you can get a Boker Exskelibur 2 in Damascus. German and Damascus!

Wow. I've never had those problems with a blur. I've owned quite a few as well. The only reason I get rid of them is because I didn't have a budget of $100. So I would sell one to get a hinderer or Reeve. But besides that, I had no issues. I've always found the serrations to do what I needed them to. In the valley of the recurve, everything stays in there. The main purpose of a serration is to tear, not to shave arm hair. So if it's a little duller, it's fine. And as far as the recurve goes for sharpening, I found that a basic ceramic rod will sharpen a recurve with no problems. I've only broken the tip off one knife, and it was actually a microtech. It busted when my buddy used the push button auto and it opened onto a metal table. That was a lot of force. I've never busted a tip on a blur. Unless it was being used to pry, then any knife can encounter that same fate.
