Help - Can't Open A Northfield 77

I once did this filing method with a slim strip cut from one of my wife's emery boards. Much less aggressive than my watchmakers files. I used a matchstick or a toothpick - I forget which - to add rigidity to it when working. Took literally a couple of minutes and worked a treat

I use an emory board just like that to lower the kick on my blades. Go SLOOOOW and checking frequently. Works great.

This is not intended as a permanent solution. It's just a temporary work around.

To save your thumbnail, fold a business card in half and slip the "loop" that made into the blade well beneath the blade. Grip and pull up. Voila

I was just going to suggest this. Not a perfect solution, but I do carry one with my Washington punch knife.

Yes sir. The medium caddy works great for my traditionals (77, 85, 48, 38, 15).
