Help finding a new chopper, and 511 abuse footage

The 711 is a great knife, and it can be ordered now. I've never regretted picking up the ones I have.

How's this for crazy... I literally just thought to myself, "I wonder if my wife would notice if I ordered the Rodent 9, 911, 1111, and 711 all at once?"

But I am more lost now than before haha.

I'm also a bit surprised at the data deficit re: 1111. Seems this should be more popular than it is? I've debated the 911 of course, as I like it's general purpose nature, but I'm not sure it offers anything beyond my BK9.

The 1111 I have is one of the SantaGaanaza ones that was offered in Sage/Sage.
From what I've seen on the forums the 1111 is new, it was a show special that they recently added to the SYKCO site.

From your list I'd risk the wrath of the wife on the Rodent 9, and the 1111. :D

Good luck!!!!!!!

Well you can't have too much Kin! I have the 711 and love it. Im looking at the 1111 myself, considering that over the Ratweiler since I already have the 711.

That's all great info, thanks guys. Those larger handles look perfect. Unfortunately now I want both a 911 and definitely a 711.

I wish I hadn't seen one, now I'll be trolling for a 711 for weeks. :)

I have the whole '11 family
Old pic from way before 1111 came out first:

Find 511 awkward and unbalanced. 711 & 911 are awesome beaters/splitters, 1311 is a great chopper. 1111 is the one that didn't get used yet (the newest in the '11 family) but it is the most blade heavy from the lot.
To me, the biggest difference between the Yard's Res-C handled knives and corresponding Swamp or Busse models (Ratveiler, TGLB, Chopweiler vs 711, ASHBM vs 1111, RMD, R5, BATAC vs 511, NMFSH, Rat Mastiff vs 911) is the balance. The Yard knives with their Res-C handles are more blade heavy, where the other ones are very close to neutral - more friendly for other tasks than chopping.
In all fairness, 711 & 911 are much better balanced, IMO, than 511, actually all but 1111 (pure chopper) are.
Res-C makes is the perfect handle material for chopping and batonning!

EH, it's the old 'apples vs oranges' argument, especially with the new R/Ws being thinner than the original ones.
I don't know what fruit it would be here, but the one you really want to have is Chopweiler! ;)

Next knife in the SYKCO line, the 711, has the larger handle and that knife is one of my absorlutly favorite knives

As i said before- one of my absorlutly favorite knives. I like the way it`s balanced, more foreward weight, but not too much. Used it a lot on splitting firewood- wasnt my biggest knife at that point, but it was such good fun splitting firewood with a 7" blade (no batonning as there is no need to with this knife), instead of using a axe or a big chopper :D Used it a little on throwing, too. This knive feels so good in the hand, that you can here it screaming: "use me" :D

Having a 1311 and a 711, i dont thing i`m gonna go for a 1111, rather a 911- knowing how the 711 performes, i`m really exicited about how the 911 works :)

Just scored a 711 in the exchange. Now we play the waiting game.

And now I have to decide whether I want the 911 or the 1111 off the site.

General message to all: 711 is a must own...get one and have no regrets.

Order a 1111 since it's different in many ways from the 711, whereas the 911 is much...a larger 711. And keep eyes open for a 1311...if you don't already have one.

For me, there's no reason to buy the 711, because Chopweiler!!! 711 would be left lonely and forgotten in some dark corner of the safe. That's no life for such a good blade! ;)

I would love to have a Ratweiler- I would love to use it too, but to me rust is a issue. The Ratweiler looks amazing, its a classic Rat. Hoping they will here my prayers and bring a CG version, too

Just ordered the 1111! I'll do a proper torture test when it arrives. There's a very good chance the 911 is still in my near future though haha.

I've found the 911 to be my most used knife. I have 2 SOD's so I think that covers the 711 angle. I have 4 911's though. Don't ask me why. It was impulse. At least that's the lie I'm telling myself.

Thanks, man.

Have read the description in the link- but not sure how this stuff is/works compared to those two products that i am using now:

-WD-40, that has a thin wet oil film.
-Marine TUF cloth, that dries out and has a oil-free shield.

How does that stuff works compared to WD-40 and TUF cloth?

Thanks

Ha! Well, one is none and two is one. When you want to thin the herd, drop me a note...

It is a synthetic (non-petroleum based) cleaner, lubricant and protectant. Basically you apply it to the metal components or blade, then wipe it dry with a clean cloth to degrease it of any previously applied oils. Then you apply a very light, even coat and allow it to dry completely to the touch which may take up to a day for first application. The carrier solvent evaporates, leaving behind a lubricant and protectant that is literally bonded to the metal and does not wipe off. Because of the dry nature, it will not attract and hold debris in the way that typical petroleum based oils do.

I noticed a couple light spots of rust on my user Taliwhacker LE, which I removed with a little toothpaste on a rag. I then Eezoxed the blade and have not seen any rust at all since applying, I can't recommend it enough. Folks have Eezoxed firearms and let them sit for over a decade with zero rust when pulled out of storage, with only one application…. :)

Thanks a lot, C

Maybe i should try a Ratweiler LE...and that eezoxe.

Thanks again :)

This thread got me excited and impatient. Decided against waiting for the Ratweiler and went with the 1111. Should be pretty sweet next to my 711! :thumbdn:....The 711 could probably outperform the 3/16" thick Ratweiler anyway :)
