Help finding a new chopper, and 511 abuse footage

This thread got me excited and impatient. Decided against waiting for the Ratweiler and went with the 1111. Should be pretty sweet next to my 711! :thumbdn:....The 711 could probably outperform the 3/16" thick Ratweiler anyway :)

You won't be disappointed. I'm thinking about the 1111 too. Not a needs based need...But more of a chronic case of the need I need to meet. (Logic! I know its sickening) It's all in how you sell it to yourself. Just so you know I don't peddle in BS. At least to myself. Because in all fairness I'm not lying to anyone if I'm lying to myself. "X2! Dan Busse! X2!"

My suggestion to get a 711 is aimed at those without a comparable older Rat. Several of the older Rats have a lot going for them. This is evidenced by not only the anniversary stuff but all the posts around the Swamp asking about differential HT and begging for specific features to be incorporated into future designs or new knives to be created.

Also, the nearing end for the 711 availability means get one or lose the chance.

FYI the 711 is going to be disco'd pretty soon, so if you want one, you better act fast

Any idea how soon? I am just starting my Busse/kin adventure, picking up a 511 off the Exchange a few days ago (still waiting on its arrival as I'm on the other side of the planet). The 711 looks a likely target down the road but if it's going to be easier to pick one up now I might just have to take the plunge while the water's right.

Mine just arrived in the mail. Get one now. :D

Howdy folks

I'm not in these parts often, and I don't have a good knowledge base of all the busse-kin blades. So I'm hoping you guys can help.

I recently beat the hell out of some blades, a Sykco 511 among them. It took the abuse very well. I reprofiled the edge and there was only a very small nick after the abuse.

I love my bk9. It, likewise, held up excellently. I'm now considering a busse-kin chopper. I don't really even like my 511, as odd as it sounds. The handle is too damn small and the weight is too forward for a belt knife. But it's so resilient, and this quality has overwhelmed the perceived drawbacks.

So! Is there a moderately priced busse-kin with possibly a bigger handle, that can out chop my bk9? I'm looking, at least for now, at the 1111. Seems like a good price /performance ratio for the neophyte.

Thanks for any help.

The 911 may out chop it. I'm sure it will split way better. I'm sure the 1111 will out chop the BK9 easy.
The BK9 like the Esee Junglas are too weight neutral. The forward weighted knives tend to chop better.

I sold my 1311 and picked up a 1111. I liked them both. The reason I prefer the 1111 is due to having the same if not slightly better chopping performance in a shorter package. 1111 feels more weight forward and substantial.
At the end of the day the 1311 is a ultra tough, short machete that can baton. The 1111 is a large hefty beast of a knife. the 1311 is a doberman the 1111 is a rottweiler.. if I was in jungle 1311...in the woods 1111.

the 911 will do anthing you need...the only reason I go with the 1111 is because
1. you loose alot of blade with the 911s large choil, ..... compare cutting edge length between 1111 and 911... I would venture to say you lose 3 inches or more...
2. I like having the biggest baddest stick in the yard.
