help finding a stockman

I have had good luck using Buck knife oil. I've had the same little bottle for years. It has graphite in it.

Hey RescueRiley, I was just rereading your initial post in this thread, and thinking... If you're looking for something that fits your hand a little better, I'd suggest trying some different patterns to see what you like best. I have a Schrade 8OT and a Moore Maker jumbo stockman that get very little pocket time, compared to my trapper, for example, because of the way they feel in my hand. My personal preference list goes (something like) trapper, canoe, barlow, stockman. I have others, like toothpicks, smaller trappers, SAKs, little jack knives, etc., but they don't see much pocket time. It's just what I like to have in my hand.
Try a trapper, or a canoe, maybe a barlow, or a copperhead (which is going to be my next try), and see which you like the feel of most. Don't feel compelled to stick with any particular pattern, until you figure out which feels best.

thanks guys.. I really like the look of the case mini trappers....has anyone noticed blade play in any case models...plade play in folder irks me...can it be avoided or is it just something I should get used to...
I have a Case 3207 mini trapper in my pocket rihjt now. It's a useful and comfortable pocket knife in my opinion. I have never got a new Case knife with blade play however I have had pocket knives develop a little play over time. Never enough to be problem.
Another pattern I have been carrying lately is the barlow. Barlows are just dang good pocket knives. Comfortable to carry and use and the large blade small blade combo is handy. Check out Case's 6.5 bonestag barlow. I really like mine alot.

I've had a lot of luck with Case knives. I've got about 16 or so and I'm happy with all of them, and I'm pretty fussy about fit and finish.
I like Case Tru-sharp and CV, probably like the Tru-sharp more, as knives tend to rust on me in hot weather, both take good edges.
For patterns I really like the Trapper and Mini Trapper, the Barlow, the Stockman, the Slim-line Trapper, the Peanut, and the Sowbelly.

Just had my second mini trapper come in the post today. Great little knife.
I've got one with a warncliffe and one with the usual spey blade.

Is your Barlow the spear bladed one? I want to get a clip point too oneday.

I have two barlows and both have the clip main blade. Tha next one I get I would like to be a spear main blade.

I have a lot of Cases in CV, and a lot of others too in a stockman type pattern and I find that...

Greater % of my Queen made knives have or develop some blade play.

Case knives in certain patterns have certain issues. I have a lot of 47 pattern cases, and more of the 047s have a weak blade than the regular 47. The 92 pattern is less likely to get grit in the action and easier to clean out. It's a little larger and not as sleek and sexy as the 47 to me, but I like it.

When I buy Case knives, I buy older ones from the 70s - sometimes the 80s, but I like the 60s to 70s better. I only buy CV in case. THe few newer CV Case knives I have are good quality too.

As for Case mini trappers, I don't like the newer ones much, but I carry a USA era (1965-70) red bone mini trapper more than any other knife I have. The old ones have a clip blade and a short pen blade, and they are consistently good quality knives so far as I've seen.
