I'm on the hunt for a good stockman knife. I've owned a few and they are my favorite knife pattern. My problem is that I only know of a few manufacturers and they are hit or miss as far as quality. Blade play, flat spots from blade rap, major gappys, etc. could anyone point me out to a company or a maker that has stockman knives readily available? There must be some that I am missing. Not to be controversial but preferably nothing Chinese made.

Boker-Germany has a line of traditionals. "Germany" means components may may be sourced from other countries, but the.
assembly is performed in Germany. I have several and the fut &finish is very good. They make stockman knives as part of the series. The blade steel is D2.

There are also "Boker-Solingen" knives which are made entirely in-house. Top notch if you can find them.

I have several Buck 301s and 303s. Not as fancy, but I find them serviceable.

I've been satisfied with my Case knives. They occasionally let one out that is not up to snuff, but none of mine have any issues.

What you need is The 2024 Bladeforum Knife....
I actually saw this and was wondering if they really were still up for offer. I'd like one but $250 is a bit hefty at the moment. I just hope they stick around a tad longer so I can snag one.

Perhaps I'm being too picky? I had a solingen appaloosa and sadly it had bad blade rap. I tried grinding it down real far even but it didn't work out. I do like case but I always seem to get the wobblers or the ones ground at the end of the shift if you know what I mean. 303 is in my cart as the next try since they updated them since my last purchase.

If you don't mind looking for a NOS or used knife I would suggest a pre Daniels D2 Queen or Schatt and Morgan. Beautiful knives with great F&F. Also I have recently purchased one of the new 301s, quality is definitely better than the last one I bought 8 or 10 years ago. As long as you don't mind a light pull.

Sorry to hear that.

As for places to buy old pocket knives, try googling
Camillus stockman for sale
There's another web site which is similar to BF. It has a discussion forum and a sales area. Should be on the first page of results. Their sales area can be searched by manufacturer.

If you don't mind a bit of a search, try looking for the Winchester Black Box Stockman 1987. They are worth it. The Buck 301 is a good knife but the springs are generally softish and it is a 3 spring knife, so will be a bit thicker compared to the usual 2 spring stockmans.
