Help me choose Millie or GB?

IMO, the Military is one of the best knives on the market today. It pockets well, rides well and is a superb slicer. As for kitchen duty, it is a natural and as an added bonus, flip it over and use the flat spine to clear food from the cutting board.

I own several Millies and a GB, all of which are brilliant knives, but the moment you mentioned food, the Military becomes a natural choice.

This is very true. I love using my Military in the kitchen. The GB, having a hollow grind, pretty much sucks at food in my experience. What I would worry about is what you like to do with your knife. If you're going to beat the crap out of it, chop down trees, and punch it through walls, get the Gayle Bradley. The tip is stronger and thicker, therefore less likely to break. I like having a tip on my knives, and breaking one really bums me out. If you're a rational human being and just want a knife that cuts and slices really well, get the Military. I got the Cruwear (they pop up relatively often on the exchange) because, again, I like my tips so toughness is important to me.

Neither of these steels are anything to worry about. I've been forcing myself to use my GB on food so I can get a sort of organic looking patina, and still nothing. It got a little spotted from sweat once, but after a couple onions and pickles the spots were gone. The Cruwear is still spotless, despite being my favorite grilling knife. I like to sample a lot...

These are two of my favorite knives, and are both awesome in their own ways. Whichever one you pick, you will love it. Then give it a week or two, and buy the other one too.

I like my Millie better than my GB. The GB is flawless in workmanship, has a great steel.....but I hate the way it sits in my pocket. I am constantly aware I have it on me, where my Millie just kinda hides. I mean, I know the Millie is there, just that it rides better than the GB. If I could only have one, it would easily be the Millie....color options and steels just make it a better knife imho.

I have both, prefer the Military by far.

Like eveyone else said, its lighter, better ergos, longer blade with a point.

I REALLY love my Millies. I think I have 6-7. Like has been stated, if you use it as intended, as a cutting tool/ slicing tool it will work fabulous. The GB may be "tougher", but that's a non issue for me. I have fixed blades to beat on. The Millie fits well, is a fantastic slicer, handles everything a knife needs to do. It is as close to perfect as a production knife can be.

I do LOVE me some M4 though. It is amazing steel that is tough, holds an edge well and really cuts great with a little "tooth" to it. Solution?? Get a Millie in M4. They aren't very common, but they do come up. That is probably THE best Millie in my opinion. All the greatness, in an awesome steel. :)

Hard to wrong with a Military! It's awesomeness will be more apparent when you carry and use it!

That said the GB is great too, I wouldn't worry about oiling the blade, I just wipe mine off (rag, paper towel, etc) after use and maybe rinse off the blade at the end of the day.

I found a couple pics of the Military compared to the Endura 4, but how much different in hand are they? While my Endura is serrated and I'm looking for a PE knife, how substantial are the differences between the two?

You have some legitimate concerns, and based on those, I would opt for the Military.

The military has a liner lock instead of a back lock, G10 instead of frn, and a nice finger choil makes the knife more versatile IMO. You're also getting an arguably better steel, though vg10 is no slouch. The military has a substantially longer handle too, which fits my hand perfectly.
Since you already have an endura you might as well go with the military to try something new. You'll always wonder about it anyway if you don't get one now.

The other nice thing about the long handle of the Military is that it accommodates all the various grips you use throughout the day and may not even realize. If you have the room in your pocket (and you do, seriously this thing just disappears), it definitely comes in...HANDy. Hah. That was bad...

if you find the millie's lines a bit too plebeian, get the metrosexual version in titanium.

LMAO!

Gratuitious pic.

From your original post it sounds like you don't really want either the Bradley or the Mili. They are both great knives. To the guy saying the Bradley doesn't slice well, I'm at a loss. It slices extremely well. It's thinner than the Mili behind the edge for most (if not all) of the blade height. It slices through heavy cardboard tubing better than any of my Spydies. I slice up apples with my knives and the Bradley is one of the best at that too. Also the Bradley tip isn't thick. It is wider than the Mili so yeah probably a little stronger but it's not a robust tip.

A Resilience maybe?

I have Endura, GB and Resilience. Like them all, but each is different so no clear winner.

M4 Military = Resilience + GB combined.

I scratched my head about that too. The Gayle Bradley is a cardboard monster imo.

Hi AF, I would agree with all of that except for the last two sentences which leave me a bit confused.

What does it take to qualify as "thick" or "robust" in your book?? Or are you simply talking about the thickness of the steel (side to side) at the tip? If so then yeah, it thins out nicely in that regard. Either way, I don't see how the GB tip wouldn't be considered at least relatively robust. Truth be known, it was the tip that made me sell mine. Not implying it's a bad design, but I find myself needing a fine tip a lot and because of that the Millie was just way more useful knife than the GB for ME. :)

Everyone's opinions in here are just awesome! I really enjoy coming in here and learning via other's experiences! I just thought I would share! :)
