Help me decide on ZT

I guess it depends on your needs. The 0909 is a beast. The 0452cf is long and slim. I haven't handled the 0456. The 0560 is a beloved older design but it's just that, an older design showing it's age.
? what do you mean older design showing it age ?

Based on what you have it seems you mostly go for smaller blades and as such I recommend 0900 (beefy like Techno) or 0450CF light EDC (like 940 but a little smaller).

First off, thanks for the pics. They definitely help as I have to order knives without handling them most of the time.

Whitty, my main concern was in pocket comfort. I don't see it being a problem in hand. I wish the handle was 5 inches.

RamZar, I do like my small knives best. Sometimes circumstances do require a larger blade but not often. The 900 is a looker for sure. For some reason when I think of ZT, an image of a big folder appears in my mind. The 456 is a knife that just speaks to me like my Techno did(not literally:D) Maybe because of the unusual design or f&f or maybe both. Also the 204 steel is nice. I really want both the 909 and 456 but it's just not an option right now. I can't honestly say that I would carry either on a regular basis, I just like them. S**t, I'm collecting again:eek:

I LOVE my 0909!! The 0095 is nice, but I traded mine, mostly due to the all metal scales. The 0456 has all metal scales, too. I guess I am a freak, but sometimes my hands sweat, or otherwise get wet or moist when I am using my knives, and I hate how the all metal scale models seem to try to jump out of my hands in those circumstances!

I agree about the metal scales but they just look so damn good. G10 is still my favorite scale material though.

Thanks for the pics, suggestions and conversations. Looks like I'm going with the 909. Now I just have to sell off a couple of backups

If i didnt own any zts and lets say i ha e $300 in my pocket, i would still buy a zt 0452cf again. I still love it the same, if not more then when i first got it. Its light, comfortable, pretty long although the slimness makes it carry well, and imo i find it to be one of the best looking production knives out there.

ZT 0301 > all. :p

In all seriousnes I own over 15 ZTs including the newer models and IMO if you want the quintessential "ZT" get the 0301. Yes it weighs a ton but it still feels the best in my hand.

I realize the 0301 is not for everyone. Flame suit on :)

Sig226,
The 452cf is definitely one of the best looking folders I've seen in a long time. So many knives, so little money😃 Got my 4th grandchild on the way. I'd sell every knife I own for them.

Id say the 909 is a good choice. For some reason i always start off not like zts new line ups every year and within a couple months i want them all. This happens with Spydercos alot to.

Before you order....... [emoji56]

Doh! And be sure to check out Gary's pics here... His pics would have made me buy instantly even if I didn't already like the looks. [emoji16]

Congrats on upcoming Grandbaby #4!

Have you considered the 0804cf ? 3.9 inch blade. The handle looks to be good for large hands. It's light for it's size. And a very nice looking knife.

Take a look at ZT0095. It is by far the most impressive ZT I have ever handle.

-Very useful blade profile with thin grind, easily the sliciest ZT ever!
-Very first ZT in-house design. I usually prefer original over collaboration.
-The flipping action is properly the best in production and comparable to a good custom like Bodega seriously.

I'm normally not a fan of ZT but this one impressed me so much. The only downside is their well known shitty clip though.

Don't overlook the ZT0456. There is another thread on here about it. The first couple of pages are of people saying why they don't like it but then those that get them in and own them start speaking up about how awesome they are. I love mine and have been blown away by the CTS-204P steel.

Looks really good anodized bronze too!

After having tried many different ZT models for me personally I like the ones built like a tank the ZT0200, ZT0300 and plan to get the ZT0909. For one small ZT I plan on getting a ZT0450 again like for the 5th time.

bflying,
That's just cold man, you know I love it

sixgun,
Love the looks of the 804 except for two things: I don't like black blades and that Made in the USA pivot is tacky looking on such a beautiful handle IMO. Typical ZT over branding. I'm as proud of made in the USA as anyone else but damn. Make those changes and the 804 is the one. I do like the blacked out Ti handle, goes great with the cf.

shqxk,
The 0095 does have something alluring about it but there's something not quite clicking for me on this one. Can't quite put my finger on it. I must say the 2016 series are all very appealing, along with the 452cf👍

Whitty,
I read that thread, it's a good one and I do like the bronze scales and the 204 is something I definitely want to try. The 456 will probably be in my possession one day. On an off note, every time I type in your name the computer changes it to Shifty. Is there something we should know?:D:D

Colorado,
Couldn't agree more on the 909

"Bulls on parade" just came on the radio, I be jammin!

I can see the ZT 0456 being a little uncomfortable in large hands, barely allowing for a 4-finger grip.

It does scream quality though, when you hold it. I haven't cut much with it yet, since I've only had it for a few days, but in the looks&design category, it is a winner.

sjhong,
Definitely understood. I'm okay with that issue. I've become accustomed to things not fitting my hand perfectly. My Techno is a three finger grip and I love it. Doubt I would do any hard cutting with it. I have other blades for that type of work.
