Ive been into hard use knives for a while now, and like all of you probly have enough as of now to last a life time. The never ending eternal pull has yet again led me to make another order.:D

Looking at RAT cutlery for a while and hearing all the good about both there knives and customer service. I have decided to join the world of RAT and purchase a few of there knives. Now im not looking for one knife to do it all, but do realize all of them are capable as such. THE KNIVES , I am dead set on the RC-5 and Izula now knowing the dealer is sold out of H.E.S.T models I have also decided on either a RC-3MIL or RC-4 but cannot decide. Already admiting to myself I will own the whole family some day, this decision isnt that important but would like one of them. The use of knives in question would be possibly be day hikes, fishing ,possibly edc/ depending on law,etc .

I like strength in my knives and weight not being a problem with me so much and OAL bein so similar and knowing I will have both RC-5 and Izula I just cannot choose. Any PO's or experience with knives above will be appreciated. Thanks.

I will have both RC-5 and Izula I just cannot choose.

You can't go wrong with an Izula. I mean, what can go wrong with one?? Their simplicity is their beauty! Good ergonomics, light, decent steel with some basic care it will last for a LONG time. Sheath is very practical and secure.

I started with the Izula for those reasons. Now for an RC-6, then a machete, then RC4, then... :D

Welcome to BladeForums and RAT!:D

Well, I started with an Izula and added an RC-5 quickly thereafter. I just placed an order for an RC-4, literally minutes ago. The Izzy is my EDC and the 5 rides in my car kit, both go with me camping. The 4 will be for day hikes and general use.

Izula and RC-5 awsome start! I'd go with RC-3mil just for easy edc canvas slabs and glass breaker pommel get a RC-4 also just 3mil frist it is such a great slicer!

The Izula is typically the first that people would get, as it is the lowest cost for one. That said, any of them are a good grab.

Pretty simple......
Start from the smallest knife and gradually to the bigger ones until you get it all and then you can start again from the smallest again and start with a different colors.

I started with the Izula OD

My first was the RC-5, my justification being that it is now almost in the middle and unique enough to stand out. Next Izula, then Junglas, then RC3.

Ive noticed that the Izula is the first knife of RATS for ppl to buy, partly why I chose to get the Izula aswell.Im gonna get the RC-5 just cause I like it,but still torn between the RC-3MIL or the RC-4.

I'm new to this forum too, I joined earlier this month. I also have several knives and got my first Rat last summer. I started with an RC-3 and I've used it much like you have described. Day hikes, fishing, camping, etc. and I really like it. I'm about to get an RC-4 I just have to decide on a color. One thing I'm pretty sure of, once you get your first one it won't be your last.

I carry my Izula everyday (neck carry). I just received my RC-4 in the mail today, haven't carried it yet. You will be happy with any of them Im sure

The RC-3 is a light and fast knife.

The RC-4 about the same size, but 50% thicker and heavier.

If you have an Izula and RC-5, I would go with the RC-3. I carry mine a lot, it is the perfect combination of concealability and blade/handle length. I found the Izula to be too small for every daily chore that I come across, it is sitting in my bugout bag as a backup survival knife.

My first RAT is an RC-5. I think I'm gonna get the RC-3 next for EDC and detailed work. Welcome and good luck!

For me the RC6 was my first Rat. I already have plenty of knives in the 4-5 inch range or I would have started with the RC4.

Got em all, didn't think I'd like the rc3 much. I now carry it everywhere I go. Didn't take long to win me over

I would go straight for the RC-5 or the Izula if you are looking for something to carry.

I would start with the RC4 personally because it is my favorite! :D

BTW--we have all the knives you mentioned in stock.

I started with the RC-5 and then bought an RC-3 with serrations, found I didn't care for them so I bought a plain edged RC-3 and personally I think it is the perfect size for overall use and carry. My vote would be RC-3 all the way.
