Help me find a good fixed blade

If you are looking for knife say under 5-6 inches, for $250 you can look at customs and even ones made from "super steels' like CPM 3V.

As has been said, check out the exchange for makers, I have liked some of Austin Goldman's work, he has some fixed blades in AEBL lately, usually a little longer than his regular sized knives.

^ What jdm said. You can get a great custom for $250 or under!! 3V is a great steel!

You would likely have to look to the secondary market, or go to The Blade Show since Operation two weeks is on hold until after Blade.

That being said, there are two sites that specialize in Busse knives, as well as this exchange, a Facebook group, instagram, and likely a few others.

That being said, I normally buy from here, from reputable people. I don't want to have an issue and not have a place that will look at us as equals until the evidence is put forth, and then make a decision. That is if it goes beyond us two settling any disputes.
I have yet to have this happen, and I highly attribute that to dealing with honorable people here that have a positive track record to show for it.

The most useful size in my opinion is the 4-6" blade length. It is a size that you will actually be willing to carry after the first camping trip. You can still baton or split wood with a knife this size. You just can't do it with 6" logs generally.

The type of camping matters too. What do you normally do? Hike and camp? State Park or National Forest camp sights? Basically one you hike to and one you drive to and park near your site.

If I had $250 to spend.... wanted to play a bit as well as use the knife for normal things.... I would get a Condor Moonshiner as your beastly chopper knife. Then get something good in the $150-$200 area for most of your use. I would choose one of the Italian LionSTEEL fixed blades.... perhaps the M5 or even the M7.

The camping we are going to do is find a spot and make our own camp ground so, hardcore camping!

The Swamp Rat Ratmandu is still available on the Swamp Rat sight . The ESEE 6 is a good choice and I would try to find a Survive Knives GSO 5 , 5.1 or 6 in CPM 3v .

Some guys turn their nose up but I always loved the multi functional Tracker. Tom Brown. Made by Topps... Phenomenal at battoning.. filet blade (needs to be sharpened more than factory does) and good serrations... Anyone who thinks you need 7" of blade edge is fkn nuts...
