So it is time for a new knife. This will be my EDC.

I am open to all suggestions, but there are a couple things:

1. I would like it to be less than $150
2. The blade must be less than 4 inches
3. The lower the carry-in pocket that is, the better
4. NOT an SOG Flash II or Trident :o

So far I have a few that I like that vary in price range, looks and basically everything else.

These are the:

Kershaw Blur
Emerson CQC-7 (Don't know whether a mini or not, or what the "Wave" feature does ahaha)
Leatherman c33L (my simple, low priced back-up plan)

So anyway, anything you guys can suggest would be of great help!

Thanks,
Grey

Starting off I would look at the Spyderco Endura, Delica and Native and the Benchmade Griptillian and 530 series. You mentioned the Blur, so if your looking for an AO you can get a Benchmade Barrage or mini-Barrage for around that price. It's the strongest assist I've ever seen and a good quality steel and handle design. Also looking at the Benchmade Presidio Ultra.

As for the wave its designed to catch on your pants and pull the blade open. Their fun.

since you mentioned the benchmade 710, I suppose I have to mention the:

Spyderco Para/Military!

They are both under $150 depending which color you get. The Military is exactly 4 inches (not sure if that's ok with you) while the Para is 3 and a bit. The pocket clip is a bit...meh since it sticks out a bit, but depending on what type of pockets you have (I know it sounds odd) it might not be a problem. Note that the Military uses a Liner lock and the Para uses a compression lock. The liner lock on the military is probably one of the best liner locks you can get, while the compression lock is ugly but extremely tough.
Hope this helps

Kershaw shallot in zdp or 110v
Kershaw blur
Spyderco military
Spyderco para military
Spyderco stretch two frn

+1 Spyderco Delica--your description fits it

Check out the Byrd line for some others WELL within your range.

How is the lockup on the Blur? I heard that the liner is pretty thin.

I like the Benchmade 552. Sadly, I'm not really a fan of the Spyderco designs.

I almost forgot, why not carry a nice Swiss Army Knife? You could try the alox farmer or a One-handed Trekker (also called the trailmaster). Heck I think It would be impossible to not find an SAK to meet your needs. Good luck on your search

I'm ordering a Farmer right now

I REALLY like the trekker but I don't like the blade with the little serrations.

you mentioned you don't care for spyderco designs, but the endura G-10 and delica G-10 are really in another class. if you can find a used d'allara droppoint, those are pretty great too. barring that, the benchmade 940 and 710 are both great, and if you want a blade that's a little shorter, knifeworks has a very nice benchmade 707 right now. if you look around you can find a one hand trekker with a plain edge blade, too, IIRC.

Great choice on the farmer! There are a couple of plain edged one handed trekker variations out there. Since you should have money to spare why not check them out?

Hmmmm... I'd have to hold the Benchmades before I bought them. I still really don't like the looks of the spyderco. It's just personal preference.

As for the SAK with a plain blade... AHH!

Since you mention deep pocket carry, the Buck Vantage Pro comes to mind. 3 1/4" S30V with a BOS heat treat, CNC milled G10 handle, and a flipper (no thumbstud or opening hole, just a flipper). Here's the clip:

In the pocket, you shouldn't see any of the knife, just the clip.

That looks like a really nice knife. Are there any stores that carry them? I have to hold things before I buy them most of the time haha
