Help me find or make this knife for $300-350

I’ve been shopping around for the perfect knife since returning my Bark River Gunny. Posting here because no one checks the “Wanting to Buy” section.

I’m looking for a full-tang 4” bushcrafting knife in CPM 3V in a full convex grind with a similar geometry to the Fallkniven F1. Preferably heat treated to 60+ HRC for more corrosion resistance. I’d love to have a nice handle (maybe dark denim micarta or white micarta) with colored liners, and a lanyard hole. I want a knife that’s aesthetically pleasing but can also take abuse. I’d also like a Kydex taco-style sheath for scout carry (not a must-have, but a nice-to-have).

Looking to spend $300 or $350 if the knife comes in perfect fit and finish, while meeting all of the requirements. Maybe even $400 if the knife is perfect. I get that 3V is only semi-stainless, but it shouldn’t rust/pit under a drop of tap water like the Gunny did.

If anyone is willing to accept this order, please let me know.

TL;DR: I’m looking for a CPM 3V bushcrafter that’s convex and similar size/shape of the Fallkniven F1 with a sexy handle and feel of a Bark River Gunny.

Look for a CPK Field Knife, HDFK, or NASK as his previously made products, I am sure the next Field Knife may be of interest too.

As far as the grind goes, you can always send your knife to Josh @razor-edge-knives. He does some great work.

When is the next field knife coming out? Where do you buy them and is it safe to regrind a full flat into a convex?

I did, thanks. No one goes in there. My post is the only one there.
In the WTB and services requested, the page will look blank due to your not having the correct membership level to sell there. You can post to buy, but not sell. Because of that, you cannot see the other posts, even though others can.

Interesting. It’s been in there for a couple of weeks now. Maybe my demands are too outrageous or I’m not offering enough money.

I do not have a particular date, but I would check the Carothers Performance Knives subforum.

It is safe to regrind a knife from flat to convex, though you will likely lose some blade height. Unless you kept the flats as such and had the cutting edge reground to a convex. This will give you the cutting edge profile that you seek while keeping the primary bevels flat.

I never had any luck posting in the Knifemakers service wanted section. Now that I have that membership level, I only clicked in there once or twice.

Sending messages directly will often be greeted with a kind attitude and an honest appraisal of your request.

I suggest you look at the custom makers here, find one doing work similar to what you want and contact them.
Sounds like a good blade. Do you have a drawing?

dunno, I had a GREAT experience by posting a WTB in that section with my specifics, ended up with a FANTASTIC knife at a good price, took about 3 days for someone to " bite " but in the end it was a great experience.

just from what I've seen.... you have a pretty specific list of wants.... the use of the word " PERFECT " several times is a deterrent to many.... and you may be light in the money department for a custom maker to work you into his schedule and build a knife to your specs rather than just cranking out something he is familiar with, and quick selling it for the same money or more...

Check out LT Wright Forest Trail at The Knife Connection ... they may be close to what you want and I believe are offered in 3V along with other steels ... I'm not sure if the offer the Forest Trail convexed but in a Sabre you could convex it easily ...

this should take you to the 3V Forest Trail listings ....

another you may like the LT Wright GNS I know the offer it in 3V Convex check DLT Trading or The Knife Connection for those.

Just thought of my LT Wright Outback from DLT Trading they may have a burlap micarta or something different but it's one of my favorite in that 4" range and it's 3V just have to have a taco sheath made but the price leaves you room to have that done.

All within your listed price range and great knives. IMHO

you could have a taco style kydex made for either and stay under $400.00 or closer to $300.00 on the GNS.

Another you may want to check out ... I just picked one up and really like it ... the Bradford Guardian 4.5 ... it comes in 3V in Full Flat or Sabre they could easily be convexed ..

They don't come in Denim or White Micarta but they are in a price range that would allow you to have custom scales made and should still be in your price range ...

and they do offer a taco style kydex ... a pancake style kydex or standard leather sheath.

Thanks for sharing. I’ll have to contact them to see when they’ve got new ones coming out with micarta scales. Not many choices left as of this moment.

How do you like the handle of the Bradford Guardian? I never liked choils.

On the new Guardian 4.5 its not a seperate choil in front of the grip ... its inclusive at the front of the grip behind the blade ... and adds to the safety of a forward grip ...

I really like the new handle ... it is a bit longer handle than some may like depending on your hand size or the way you prefer to hold it ... but it fits my slightly above average size hand rather well.
