Help me justify spending $100 bucks on a knife

Long story short:
-Pride of ownership
-Blade Steel
-[THE] Axis lock (i.e. not a similar-styled/knockoff)
-Warranty

As long as you enjoy the knife you've paid for and enjoy using it then price is negligible. (Just don't lose it! It hurts more when you're really attached to a knife)

..........I got it!!!!

Do you want a $30.00 Lock standing between you and the ability to use your fingers... or a $100.00 lock made by a man who makes $.36 more an hour ;)

Huh?
A mini grip isn't exactly a hard use knife.

If used properly, your fingers will be just fine, even if you have a non-locking knife.

It is a great little knife for around $70 and they are popular on the x as well so if you don't like it, you should be able to off it fairly quick.

You won't be happy with another $30 knife. The only way to get what you want is to buy what you want. You'll enjoy it once you get it in your hands and feel the quality. If you don't, someone here will buy it for almost exactly what you spent.

There are a few $30 knives worth having. But if you go on buying $20 or $30 knives you will end up spending a hundred or hundreds of dollars
on a box of $30 knives and never have a nice one. Take the plunge and don't look back. I would rather have one quality blade
that gives me pride of ownership than a shoe box full of crap.

Look at it this way, you might slowly work your way up 5 or 10 dollars since "it isn't that much more" than you have spent in the past. Before you know it you will have 100 bucks in multiple knives, some you will no longer carry. So just spend it to begin with on the knife you want to carry. If you are drawn to a mini grip... You will end up getting one in the future, I guarantee it. The only question is how far in the future will that be? Don't feel bad using expensive knives, you spend that much to have things you would enjoy using so make your purchase worth it by actually enjoying it. Besides, wear marks from use add character to a knife.

This.

Also, should you ever decide you don't want it, lots of us would buy it from you :D

I have owned a few of the Minis. They really don't seem that special when you get your first one. But after using it for ahwile, you will see why they are so popular...
When I sold my first one, it didn't take me long too miss it.

My current Mini is from the BM Build a Grip program. Green scales, S30V blade, and polished hardware. They are over 100 dollars, but you can easily find a regular production Mini for around 60 bucks.

I think everyone should try one at least once.

At least you're buying the right knife- I bought lots of other knives before I gave in and got the MiniGrip- and I've bought a lot more since (and a lot more expensive), but the MiniGrip is still the one in my pocket every day, and has been for more than enough years to have been proven worth the price many times over. Been carrying mine for years and still love it- what more can you ask for?

I believe the minigrip will be my next purchase as well, I've got a similar collection to yours with a few $30 knives like the rat 1 and tenacious, both are good knives for the money. Then I got a delica and I immediately noticed the difference in quality from the tenacious. I believe if you bought a minigrip you will immediately notice how great a knife it really is, so I'd say go for it.

If you can purchase a $100 knife, using roughly $60-70...why not if you want it...I shop around and always found many sellers selling their knives like new or even new condition. If one single knife EDC purpose, why not get a better one. I have yet to spent $100 on a single knife, however, I did spend $80 on a used BM barrage 580 in like new condition. If I take good care of it, I may always get 80% - 90% value back after whenever I decide to resell it.

$100 value to one person is different to another......

The mini-grip can be had for 65-75$ new. If you can really afford this knife, I would say go for it. But if buying the knife is going to put you in a financial bind, you might want to hold off. The knife itself is well worth the price in my opinion. You get a high quality knife, and the satisfaction of supporting the U.S. job market, good blade steel, Benchmades axis-lock(not only a very effective lock, but also a favorite of many, for ease of use, and smooth feel), and you also get a very good warranty, plus Benchmades Life Sharp service if you would want to send it to them to be sharpened. Also like many others have said, if you regret the purchase, you will have no problem selling the knife on here, for little to no loss.

Im implying a good construction on a lock of a higher value knife... I'm not sure how you didn't read that correctly.

Hmmm...
I'll tell you the way I justify a knife purchase.

If I want the knife, I like everything about it, I know it's a good knife that I'll love, carry, and use, I get it.
Of course if you can't really afford it, don't, but save for it.

It's worth the money in the end. I used to question value on knives but after I would carry them or use them or could just tell the quality, I realized the price was justified.

You'll have a good knife, with a great steel, an awesome lock, and you'll smile every time you put it in your pocket or take it out to play with it. You'll even love the little scratches and character marks it gets. You'll be happy with your knife and have a good working companion for life. I would say that's priceless.

It's also made in the USA if that really truly matters to you.
I find it's not where something is made, it's the quality and joy it gives me that matters.
You'll be filled with joy and pride by owning the knife and have a handy dandy daily tool.

I say get the knife. =]

After all of these great reply's you now owe us a pic of knife in hand when you get it.

My .02$:

The mini grip was my first "nice" knife and it's a great choice. One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that the mini grip is just plain fun. The Axis lock is fun to open and close and you can do it many different ways. You will find yourself just playing around with it when you're watching TV etc.

It's also a versatile knife. It's got the pocket clip, and most people carry it clipped to a pocket. For me however the mini grip shines with in the pocket carry. I take the clips off of mine and drop it in with my keys. The scales are tough and don't scratch from the keys. The thing just disappears. When it's closed it's like a little ergonomic orb. I don't even know I have it, until I need it that is.

If you buy it, you won't regret it. With knives, if it's something you really want, you'll enjoy it even more when it's in your hands. For me, an $80 knife is a beater. When I first got into knives, I remember that my $50 knife was my high-end knife that I pampered and rarely used. You'll soon find yourself spending hundreds of dollars on knives every month. It's an addiction.

It's a knife. It's a useful tool, there's no downside to owning one.

I have a full-size Griptilian, which cost me about $90 from a local shop. It's still one of my favorite knives and it was my first step into higher-end production knives.
