Help me justify spending $100 bucks on a knife

You can get a great Kershaw or Spyderco for $100. I am wanting a Todd Begg Bodega and it's $900.00. Gonna be saving a while for it. In the end it will be worth it!

Do you have wheels (car, etc)? If you don't, and if I were you, at your age I'd be saving every penny to buy some wheels.

Prior to the age of 31 my most expensive knife was a $25 Buck 110. That $25 knife served me well both camping and as a work knife. And it's still cutting just fine today (I'm now 43).

This is a knife forum, so you won't have any difficulty finding people here who will try to talk you into buying a particular knife, even if you don't really need it. But it's not their money is it. The kool-aid here is always free.

On a related note, and no offense intended, but I've never understood people asking others whether or not they should buy a particular knife. Just because others like it doesn't garuntee that you will. A knife that feels good in some peoples hands might not be suited for your hands. Your only options are to handle one in a store first, or order one online and take your chances.

As for the wheels, yes i do have a car :)

My motive in this thread really was to get some reasoning as to why people buy these expensive knives. My friend asked me "What makes that Benchmade better than your Kershaw here on the desk" and i truely had no solid answer. I have been eyeballing a BM cuz it just seems like something to have especially as a knife "enthusiast". I feel as if I have gained more knowledge in my hobby (as crazy as this hobby may seem to others) and I have also gained more motive to buy a really expensive knife...haha.

The day will likely come when you'll be trying to justify spending $500 on a knife! It can get away from you QUICKLY!!

Well said! And you can get a nice used one for about $50 on the sales section here. Another option for the same quality would be a $60 new delica

I bought a bm grip 550 back in 2005 I spent $56 with shipping brand new from a site that no longer exists. That was the first time I spent more than $30 on a folding knife.... Il tell ya what, the cpm154 steel is an extremely great steel. I have since lost my grip and just recently was lookin around for one and saw the huge price jump.... I personally would save up $50 and get yerself the a ZT 0350. Better Steel, American made, and assisted opening. I'm here to ask you why would one spend $100+ on a folding knife..... Thats the Delema I have. Ill spend $100+ on a nice American made fixed blade. Honestly for that price u could get yerself a bk2, a CS tomahawk, and a little left over for a single blade vic sak. Just a little different opinion than the rest...

Be careful talking about a China made knife on these forums! Evidently, some folks are overly sensitive about this. I was quickly reprimanded and shut down by merely mentioning a China made knife on the traditional forums.
