While in my family gifts are small because my birthday is near Christmas, I typically take it as an opportunity to really splurge and get my self something REALLY nice. This is the year I decided on a big chopper. I'll make the rest short and sweet.

I am looking for something between 8 and 11 inches long, and a "hard use" style woods blade. Now I have set aside a $300 budget which I will not exceed. I was thinking the ESEE Junglas but I thought I might get more for the budget I have set aside. My final criteria is I'm not too interested in Kukris or other re-curved blades. This knife will be used and far from babied, so it better be tough. Major plus if it has a bullet proof ESEE like warranty.

What do you recommend?

If you're not in a hurry,, keep your PayPal locked and loaded and watch the Busse/Kin sales forum,,, lots pop up within your budget. I snagged a Scrapyard 1111 just a few weeks ago
Good luck!

Thanks for the tip! Still on the prowl for other options though. Maybe something more "natural" looking or lighter

Bark River, Survive!, maybe not the same unconditional warranty but dang fine knives.
Let us know what you get!

Bark river seems like the most appealing so far, SO many models though. I don't really like the Survive! designs

Check out Virtuvice on YouTube,, he really goes through all the bark River steel options and gives pros and cons,,, spoiler alert,, he likes Elmax and 3V a lot. Although that's for small blades..
I guess the Bravo 2 or 3 would fit your bill..

Long time subscriber :) I love his voice and timber. Content is great and he inspired me to step up my sharpening game.

Any suggestions for big barkies?

I had my eye on the Bravo 3,, but just couldn't find enough info to pull the trigger. Maybe kind of silly, but Google "paramilitary 2 for edc" and see the thousands of hits you get. Strangely enough only one or two videos and not really any in depth reviews on the Bravo 3.
I'll bet it's a great knife but I like to research a little before dropping 300$

I'm totally the same way. Honestly I don't understand what you're trying to convey with the whole PM2 thing though :/

Ah just saying that there's a reason that a ton of people recommend it,, it's a great knife.

The issue with the Bravos is I don't really like the handles, they seem small (like my dad's bravo 1.5) and I have pretty meaty hands.

Well good luck with your search, in the end, I don't think you'd be disappointed with a Junglas, and you'd have some extra money for other toys.

I sure do like the Junglas. I do think the Bravo 3 looks nice. I suppose I could always wrap the handle...

I hate that you are so firm on your budget because a great chopper for someone with big meaty hands like me would be a Fiddleback Forge Production Camp Knife. They are $50 out of your range though. With what you have stated you want, and with in your budget, I would stick with the Junglas!

If others come to mind I will chime back in!

I'll check that out, I might make an extension of its really that great.
