How about a Fallkniven A2? Right in your wheelhouse $ wise. Most of the Hattori made Cold Steel knives are a great value as well. Also Hattori has some beautiful knives under his own branding. He make Fallkniven' s fixed blades as well.

Also a bit on the small size, and I'm not a big fan of cold steels fixed blades right now

Hattori models are the ones available in San mai steel or carbon steels. Definitely don't have the same look as most other cold steel models. Happy hunting
