Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself, I'm a long time creeper and finally decided to join. Now for the fun part, I'm looking for a new edc folder, I don't care about blade length, lock type, and I'm not a steel snob. I would use it for mostly typical edc tasks, occasionally cutting seat belts as I tow junk cars on the weekends & a glass breaker would be fun since sometimes we don't have keys and need to lock the steering wheels.
I'm a broke college student so I would like to be around the $150 mark, but I can spend some more if I fall in love with it.

I already have:
• yojimbo 2
•manix 2
•ambitious
•mikov predator
•esse avispa
•dama skyline
•dama boker Kalashnikov
•cv case soddie
•cv opinel
•110
•119
•gerber covert auto
•bm 52

Thanks again.

Sounds like you need a Benchmade Triage! Welcome to the forums!

I second this recommendation. A little more than you want to spend but think it will be worth it for what you are looking for.

Welcome!

For within your budget you could get the victorinox rescue tool or the spyderco assist, both of which have v a glass breaker.

@whitty & @stricknine
Thanks for the suggestion, but since I would be using it for other edc tasks I want something with more of a tip. But that triage has definitely made my short list now, seems like a perfect work knife.

@knifeguy I guess I'm picky but I just don't like the blade shapes on those too much. I'd like a tip for speed holes in my beers.

CRKT M16-13LE (law enforcement model with glass breaker)
CRKT M16-13ER (rescue model with glass breaker)

Both have AutoLAWKS lock safety - some love it, some hate it. I don't have personal experience with these, just throwing cost effective option out there that seems to meet your requirements.

EDIT: apparently these models come in both a "glass breaker" version and "no glass breaker" version. If interested, check to be sure the one you are considering does have the glass breaker feature.

Thank for the suggestion. I've handled the autolawks and just can't handle it. But thank you for the suggestion. I guess I'm more picky then I thought. But at least I think I figured out how to reply.

+1 for the Contego!

Agree with this and the Spyderco Assist. But these knives are more dedicated rescue tools than general purpose EDC knives. Since you're not really trying to rescue someone, you might get more use from a less specialized tool. You can cut seatbelts in a junked car with any knife without the worry of injuring an occupant and you can break the glass with many objects and tools.

You're right on that. That's the fun part about junk cars. & yeah the sheeps foot really limits its use for me.

I've had an H&K Ally for a while now, & it's functionally my favorite folder - When I read your post, I had to throw this out there because last year I used this knife to break a window & cut a seat belt to try to help an elderly man out of his car right after a collision I witnessed...but right after I cut his seat belt he yelled at me to leave him alone!....so I just stayed until the cops got there - anyhow, this knife is a great EDC cutter & I broke a window with it - honestly, it's not a knife I'd probably aesthetically buy today just because my tastes have changed - but the knife is a performer....& relatively inexpensive as well.

I'm an EMT and I have a triage, I highly recommend it. Cutter zips through anything clothing and seatbelts. I also put a different tip profile on it with a grinder sort of like a reverse tango. Now it can pierce.

I think I'm a go with this. Not pretty but a work knife doesn't have to be pretty. Seems pretty inexpensive too. So I can still get another knife. Thank you
