Hi, can anybody tell me what kind of knife this is.
It was used in a double murder in Sweden 2004.
How old could it be?
Original or copy?

Sure looks like a cheap bailsong to me.

Murderers seem to rarely select valuable cutlery...

it's one of those rare, sought after "stainless steel" balisongs :D Looks like a cheapo flea market knife shaped object to me.

Why did you post in the Camillus forum? I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the original American company, so I am going to move this to the General Knife Discussion.

It's only in swedish, but try to translate it in google crome, if there is any problems I help you.

Yes, one of the coolest features of Google Chrome is its language translation. It's a word for word translation, so sometimes it's kind of awkward, but usually you can understand the basic idea of the page.

Yes it looks like a flea market knife, but I want to be 100% sure, no guessing, please. If there is anybody out there how knows exactly what kind of knife it is I appreciated it. Much depends on the knife in this case, so a reward is not unthinkable.

Thanks
Lennart

It is what is commonly known as a CCC (Cheap Chinese Copy) more or less of the pacific cutlery balisong.
Mass produced in innumerable amounts by many different companies and sold by many different sites and vendors in 2004 and still in production today. Sold by many internet sites whom sell cheap balisongs. Commonly sold at flea markets and swap meets. Commonly referred to as "silver flick knife."

It's a cheap Chinese balisong made by probably 20 different companies.

It's not the same knife, trust me, I have google pictures and I have not find it, that's why I went here to see if anybody knows anything about this knife.

The information will be the same as I've given you. It is a mass produced made in china cheap junk knife. There will be variations of the same, but they are all made in china and sold in the same places. Trying to find an exact copy will be very, very difficult and then if you do find an exact copy, finding out whom or where it came from will be like looking for a blonde hair in a mountain sized haystack.

LOL you come here asking because you don't know and when you're told it's a generic knife your response is "trust me it's not the same knife?"

It is a cheap unbranded knife made by some non-descript chinese company and distributed via the cheapest channels throughout the world. What are you looking for? Manufacturer? Distributor? Merchant who sold the knife in your country? Person who possibly sold/gave/had the knife stolen by the alleged murderer?
Being that it's a non-descript, generic knife there is little possibility of finding the answers to those questions.

I have one in black and one in chrome. It's the same knife. They are hand made so they vary from knife to knife.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^this and this again^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Those knives have been around since the 80s at every flea market and gun show I've ever been to. The only amazing thing about them is the price has stayed the same. They were around 10 dollars when I was a kid and they're about 10 dollars now. You have to admit, that's kinda odd.

that knife is so Not special it is amazing, you would be better off finding a manufacture date and manufacturer if he would have used a broken glass bottle.

good luck

you see lenn,
for anyone to identify a knife correctly,
there first must be a maker's or manufacturer's stamp (usually found on the tang).
if there aren't such markings,
then it would be like a trying to precisely id a gun's origins without serial numbers.
i concur with others here that the pictured "balisong knife"
is a generic copy.
i have observed the word "stainless steel" stamped on its blade,
which is not uncommon for knives.
to be like that found on cheap copies
also the rivet pins are not stainless steel (which high end models use)
but rather appear to be nickle plated?
most "balisong knives" with these stated physical characteristics
come from the far east.
notably either taiwan but mostly china.
previously in the early years it was predominantly japanese and to a small extend korean made.

i would suggest you look up a jeff imada's 1986 classic book
The Advanced Balisong Manual.
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/410DG1YHYHL._SY300_.jpg
because somewhere in there lies a sort of catalog of balisongs from the era.

Thanks for the picture, but it's not the same knife, but interesting that you write that they are hand made.
What you have is not cheap copies?
What prices?
What qualities do they have, how they feel, solid?

Thank you very much.
