Help needed with UPS

I'll post an update once the package I sent to the USA via DHL Express actually arrives. I'm no longer using UPS or regular DHL for USA shipments. This is a nightmare situation.
UPDATE: My test package from Germany to the USA shipping with DHL Express went well. Total value of the shipment including shipping was around €80 and my customer had to pay an additional $23 in total, which seems to have been 15% + a fee for processing. I think DHL Express is about the only option for shipping from the EU to the USA right now. I don't want to highjack the OP's thread and I hope he gets his shipment. Perhaps we need a new thread just on EU>USA shipping?

Feel free to start a EU>US SHIPPING thread. I can sticky it for a while and link it to the sticky "Good Info" thread.

An update on my situation. It has been almost a month that my package has been in the UPS station in Louisville KY. When I check the tracking # it will say the package is undeliverable and will be disposed, then a few days later it says the package will be processed and delivered. That has repeated over and over again. I have heard nothing from UPS about paying any tariff.
The shipper has been very good to answer my e-mails. He assures me the package will get delivered, and has promised in the event the package does not get delivered to refund my money.
I have bought a lot of wood from Asia, I wonder if I buy some again if the Tariff issues would hold up that shipment.

Here is some info that you may find interesting - I got a curved carbide platen today from Robin (RD) via UPS express.
Journey took about a week total, including clearing Customs. Got a notice from UPS today that there was “duty” due - about $22.
link to pay online, which I did, and UPS just delivered to my door…

Congratulations bilif, I am still waiting on mine. It has been in Louisville KY since Sept. 21.
I just resent them a message,
Over a week ago customer service told me it was in transit again.
But i see now its still at “import scan”.

Tom did you get ahold of anyone at ups yet? I didn't read the whole thread. The way that always works for me is to select the 'small business' option... Once you are in that menu I've found it relatively easy to speak to a live person

REK, for shipments that come from another country UPS has a special phone # . After being placed on hold for almost two hours I got to speak with somebody probably in India who did not speak good English and really did not give any help. He kept saying, "I'm sorry, this is not your fault". It was a complete waste of time.
UPS has a e-mail they promise to answer with in a day. I sent them two and they have never answered.
UPS used to have a "Virtual assistant", but that feature does not work anymore.
My package seems to be stuck in a endless cycle of "Import scan", in "transit", import scan, etc. Also a couple of times UPS has said the package is "Undeliverable" and will be disposed of. Then it's back to "Import scan", etc.

I know I am late in this thread. For what it is worth, I have had about a half dozen packages shipped to me from Japan and Indonesia over the last couple months. They were all shipped with DHL. I get an email to pay duties or whatever they call it. 5 days after I pay the packages show up.

Call this number on weekdays during regular business hours (Austin) at 737-484-5560 and speak with Rosie. If you explain your problem (even though this is not an Austin-specific issue), I am sure she can connect you with someone who can provide you with some answers. Tell her an exceedingly grateful UPS customer gave you her number.
