Help pick my next knife!

I'm about 99% sure on going with a Gayle Bradley 2 for this round and will get a deep carry clip. Unless maybe I stumble across a Slysz Bowie, GB1, or Southard in the meantime, I would snag one of those first just based on scarcity.

But the GB2 I think has what I want rn, fit and finish, durability, new steel (nothing in M4 yet), flickable, and its available.

I think for now I'll eventually sell one of my PM2s, and get some nice custom scales for my Para3.

Lots of good recs came in, thank you all for that! The short list I'll prob be looking to pickup includes:

Doug Ritter RSK mini
Mini Adamas
Mini Freek (S90V)
940-1 (S90V)
Para 3 LW cobalt w/SPY27
Para 3 stone blue knifejoy exclusive
Lil' Native (S90V)
or any of the other styles discussed in S90V or S110V eventually.

Thanks again for entertaining me and helping me dialing this in! pretty pumped about upcoming new knife day.

Interesting about all the GB2 recommendations. It’s a nice knife but it is far from fidgety. I also wasn’t all that impressed with the steel on the one i had. For fidgety I’d go with the Ritter RSK. For a smaller good quality ti flipper I recommend the Axial Enzi. Punches way above its weight for the price.

Hey folks, long time lurker, not much poster. But I've definitely got the itch and looking for my next knife and would love your recommendations! Here's where I'm at:

Price point: up to $350 or so
Steel: something high end like s90v (none of these yet) for light duty but high use
Blade length: 2.5-3.5 inch or so
Format: folder preferred but also looking to get a fixie for edc at some point.

Really love Flicky/flippy action and fidget worthy knives. Favorite lock so far is spyderco compression lock due to being put of blade path. Don't love lockbacks or 2 handed open/closers.

Not against thumbstuds but suppose I do prefer the spydie hole.

Ive got a few cheap but goodies: rat 2 D2, ruike p801, spydie tenacious lightweight

I have a civivi elementum black s35vn green micarta.

I have 2 Para 2's in s45vn, 1 satin 1 dlc. I like the blade but I find it easy too much handle proportionally. I'll prob eventually sell one and keep the other for posterity.

I have a Para 3 s45vn in black g10. I like this knife a lot but still think handle/blade ratio not the best. Spoon clip orientation on the handle sucks Would really like to try a LW with wire clip and nice steel like the stone blue knifejoy in m390.

I have a sun moon Chaparral I'll probably hold but not use, don't love lock backs.

Prob the nicest knife I have now is a TRM neutron 2 with blue tekwood scales. 20cv. Flicky action, awesome user/slicer but wanting something "more." maybe it's too light even, prefer a little jimping on the spine/thumb ramp.

I just pre ordered a winterblade factor which appears to be a major fidget worthy piece.

Knives I'm thinking about but not at all settled on or limited to:

Folders
Don't have any benches yet, considering:
940: either classic green s30v or CF s90v
Autofact not my usual style but very much interests me.
valet
Griptilian or bugout but would have to go metal scales to mitigate partial liners
Lil native s90v
Spyderco Gayle Bradley 1/2
Schemp bowie
Swayback
Spydiechef
Slysz bowie (not that I could find one)
Para 3 LW in better steel
Hogue deka
Lionsteel TRE or Myto

Fixies
Really like the lionsteel b40, b41, m1, m4

Okay this is where you come in. What should I get?!?!
I’m always trying to switch it up and or find a GADA knife. Ironically, I have a nice custom that was a gift I always carry for sentimental reasons but I am constantly flipping around that one piece and have yet to replace it or really carry anything else on a daily basis. That said…the two pieces I have bought and sold several times are the CRK Sebenza and the Spyderco Native 5. I flip these because they end up with little to no carry time in the long run. I don’t think either of these fit Your fidgety need, but they are just awesome to me on specs. The CRK’s I have because I just love the pure tool nature and look even though I don’t carry it. the Native in S110v with the liner less blurple scales is just a knife I look at because it’s so interesting and different to me, but similarly I don’t carry. Loved the idea of an uncommon steel an uncommon G10 scale color when I bought it. Like the CRK it’s a tank and one I would probably use If I wasn’t a desk jockey in living in a major urban area.

That's a sweet little flipper, I haven't heard of it before.

For the GB2, are you saying it's not fidgety because of the liner lock being a little tough to access with no cutout? Or just generally it's not a fidgety knife to you, it's a little bigger etc? Just Curious. I haven't held one tbh but watched a lot of videos, the action looks great and really I just like to roll open, thumb flick, middle finger flick off the spydiehole, etc. A 3" something is probably better suited to that sure, but I just like that feeling with a well constructed piece.

Yea, I hadn’t heard of it until I saw someone mention it in another forum. It blew me away with how smooth and well made it was when I picked one up. Fun little flipper.

Naw, it’s mostly the size and action that make it not very conducive to fidgeting. Unless you have huge hands it’s a slow roller through and through. Can’t be spydieflicked with ease and thumb flicks are successful about 50% of the time. Personally, I find that even my back lock Delica is more fidgety. Another fidgety knife that came to mind for me was the HEA designs Chief, or Olamic Whippersnapper (can be found on the secondary for around 350 sometimes. I might actually have one available)

Yeah sure thing, I hear that. I was watching some videos and looks like it can flick okay with tuning. Honestly I'll play with any knives that I love to hold or carry so more just wanted a nice feeling piece for that reason.

Buuuuut... In an interesting turn of events, I went straight impulse mode and snagged this gem from a member here at pretty much a firesale price.

Ochs Worx Osprey EDX
Limited run 3.25 in titanium frame lock flipper in M390.

Can't wait to get this puppy in hand!

Olamic Wayfarer 247 is incredible. The custom builds come fast and the number of choices mind blowing. I have completely given up the hunt for another EDC, been carrying it daily for well over a year now.
For the novelty factor, an OTF is an easy itch to scratch with the letter opener/box cutter quality pieces starting at $40. You can get versions that are derivative without crossing the line into clone/bootlegs on one of the Chinese sites. The only knife I have ever purchased on one of those sites is an OTF double action (not a copy because fakes are bad for a variety of reasons). You are not going to get good steel, but I don't get using a good knife on paper or cardboard!
The Wayfarer is beyond a doubt my favorite knife, such great action and every one is unique!

I like some elements of the sage lineup, not sure that one is for me but will keep it in mind. not sure about the PITS, I'm only seeing an older discontinued stainless slip like here, is that right? https://www.knivesplus.com/spydercopitsfoldersp-c192tip.html

mad props on the ritter RSK mini rec, would consider the full size RSK too actually. those are some sharp looking knives and solid AF. definitely on the list!

cheers on the GB 1/2, sway, and chef, those are all strong contenders still too. sh*t i thought this was going to help but may actually be giving me too many options haha. i'll have to do a nice official reveal when the chosen piece comes in!
:-)

Good luck! The PITS re-release is in the latest reveal, so it should drop soon: https://catalog.spyderco.com/spyderco-reveal-10-2022/?page=16

I already placed a preorder, probably the last knife I buy this year.

Thanks y'all!

Not sure if you saw, but I ended up snagging an Ochs Worx Osprey EDX on here for well under retail price. It's pretty dope, beautifully built, the blade is perfect, if any critiques the handle is a pinch on the small side but it truly disappears in the pocket. Normally I feel like knives go too handle heavy so I'm actually impressed, and overall dig it for sure.

I'll definitely be looking to pick up something in s90v in the next couple buys, I've been thinking the bugout maybe and would swap in some custom titanium scales maybe unless I fall in love with the CF.

I like the native 5 package a lot, but I really don't care for lockbacks. I was also considering the lil native in s90v since its compression lock, but not sure if it would feel to small to handle regularly. Prob will look to upgrade my Para 3 to a fancy steel version in LW or custom scales sometime.

Someone here turned me on to Ritter RSK mini and that is definitely on the buy list too.

Hey, Alan, I'm holding one "sale pending" for you. Let me know, please. It's a solid choice.
