We need your input to build the perfect 830/831 Marksman!

We have been dying to build an 830, but with the new Tanto Blade out for the 831 we want to make sure it is something you all want.

So, we have created the poll above to get your input on different configurations including options like blade steel, finish, shape etc. If you would like to expound on your thoughts by posting replies we'd love it.

Your input is very important to us. So important, that we are doing a drawing to give away the first knife from this project. It is a big thank you to you all for your input and good advertising for us!:P

The rules for the drawing are:

Post a reply to this thread with your input on the knife.

Only 1 entry per member. (But please do post multiple times if you have something else to contribute)

Hope and pray that you win.

That's it! Thanks in advance, and we look forward to the discussion!

Great idea.

I would like to see the knife with an upgraded steel such as S35VN in the original blade shape with satin finish and how about an anodized handle in either blue on the high areas of the blade or blue in the lower areas. Such as in the new Buck Ascend 715 as
seen in this link. http://i.imgur.com/Nyi4RMQ.jpg

WOW.... A Marksman build out.
There is little I would change about my original 830, so this is tough.
I would like a more durable steel, S30V would be good. I don't know much about the S35VN to compare.
Save the tanto blades for the ninjas. Drop point is the way to go.
I really like the idea of the G10. I envision flat scales that I can add my own finger grooves to and massage the corners a touch if needed.

I think the big thing to keep in mind is that this isn't a collector, its a user. Using quality components while keeping it affordable might be a challenge. I don't know that I would go much beyond what I paid for my Marksman if I didn't see it as a useable upgrade. The right D2 might be a good blade steel for something like this come to think of it.

There's my $0.02.

Tanto black blade s30v od green g10 scales

Also it be still cool if it was 420hc with same stuff but with lower price

I don't think g10 will work cuz of the design but it would be cool

Hope I win but congrats to who ever

Drop Point, with stone wash. I would like G10 in a dark color, some grip traction but not too aggressive.

Drop point, S35VN with a nice stonewash and the orange G10 scales would be my pick. The Marksman is a bloody nice knife with crazy high fidget factor, would love an upgraded steel with a splash more color.

Also, thank you so much for the opportunity!

Just can't see a tanto point doing much for me in EDC. Like the options provided above! Hope I win!

I like drop points, I like S35VN (though I am just fine with S30V), I like stonewashed finishes, and I prefer G10 to metal for the handles (but my favorite is Micarta). For color, OD Green is the one I would probably pick, but orange is fun too.

What he said +1

I like the idea of a drop point in either of the steels. Satin finish and G-10 covers, OD green or Burnt Orange would get my vote.

oh man this is awesome! The possibilities! I voted, I love od green, and the steel going to s35v would be amazing. The aluminum scales also set the knife off, so I'd keep those, but with 831 pattern for sure.

I'd change to a larger pocket clip though, the smaller one just is to small.

I voted for an 830 in Orange G-10, but I also like the idea of a blue anodized handle.

Also, offering whatever knife you choose to build, but with 420hc at a lower price point would be phenomenal

Good luck everyone!

all black, super steel, drop point, grippy g-10 scales is what I would spend money on

I selected Black G10 and stonewashed drop-point S35VN blade. I would prefer a clip-point option though. I like the idea of G10 over aluminum, but I don't know if it is mechanically feasible with the design (hopefully it is). The blade steel, to me, is not critical, I don't see much difference between the two steels for my use. I wouldn't even mind 420 just to keep the cost down. Good luck getting this done, and thanks for the chance at winning the giveaway.
