Help Us Name Our Boat Contest

I just rolled in to work and haven't had my coffe yet. That being said...

1. Ayo Ghokali. 'Nuff said. ;)

2. Rabscuttle. From Watership Down, that was El-ahrairah's sidekick. "All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a Thousand Enemies. And whenever they catch you they will kill you. But first they must catch you. Digger, listener, runner. Prince with the Swift Warning. Be clever, and full of tricks, and your people will never be destroyed".

3. Taarakian. From Heavy Metal, the animated movie.
"This Taarak the Defender, his race is dead. They cannot defend anyone".
"Some say the race is not dead, that one still lives".
"One! What good is one?"
"One of Taarak's blood can do much".

I'll post more after I've had my coffee.

If Svastar doesn't mind me borrowing
from him how about Mad Astra.
Close... it was "Mad Asstra", and I like that better than my own, actually.

Great stuff so far- some good hits...

ddean: never seen "WakeUp" before- pretty good. Ro-Boat too. :D
that's the prob: most good names are already out there... Can't tell you how many "Hakuna Matatas" are out there. Blecchh.

bamboo: close to Nahudu, my evil cat's name. Mo' good.

FK: no Minnow, good idea. No downer connotations. There was a "USS Robalo" fleet type sub in WWII- lost with all hands. Can't use that.
:(

bran: wish I had an opinion if "retirement sucks" - tell ya in 20. :(

silverfox: Heavy Metal is one of my faves. I'm still afraid of the Green Orb. Music by BOC. Must-have DVD.

SD: I like Thor's Hammer, SHE won't call me Thor. Believe me, I've tried. Besides, I'm a Celt. I fought Vikings till, well, till I died. :footinmou

Azis: appreciate the comments from another boat owner.

and Kis? Can't call the boat 42. I'm 42.

Any clever ndn names?

Feeling the love. Keep 'em coming. The name's out there!

Golden Years.

Well maybe ya ain't there yet but the Golden Years are so called not because of you're enjoying yourself, but the amount of money it costs to live. And since you're going to be throwing money at a boat you've chosen it already fits.:D

Oh, and remember that almost always the "C" in Siouxian is pronounced "Ch" as in ChinChilla.;) :D

No cunning ndn names from here, we had canoes, bull boats, and dugouts, not boats.:D
Oops, forgot our brothers of the Northwest, now they *Had/Have* Boats!
Ocean going whale hunting Boats at that!!!! :o
Don't think they are named though.

"Maid of the Mist" would be another good one. That's what the boats that go up to the bottom, or near bottom, of Niagara Falls are called I think.;) Oh never mind, I forgot. You wanted a one of a kind name. :dumbass:

How about:

Vitamin Sea
Crewzen
current Sea
His Sea Fit
Breakin wind
Dock Holiday

"Spare Time"

I always thought that if you worked hard enough to be able to afford a boat, that you wouldn't have any time to enjoy one. This would appear to be the rare exception...

Luck with it once you can launch. Those prefab aluminum, steel drum mounted, floating piers are pretty nice...

Did I win? I really think I should have won. My name was really good. So, did I win? I'm hungry too.

"Das Boot"

Noah

Noah, that's excellent!

With the deep V hull, what about "Dui Chirra"? That kind of fits.

Or "Tarwar?" "Manjushri" would be cool, or "Kothimoda?"

Nice boat. Good luck!

Norm

I liked Heavy Metal enough to get Taarna's red sword tatted on my neck. :footinmou Since '89 only a handfull of people have recognized it. Saw BOC three times in concert, a buddy got the logo airbrushed on the back of my leather one year for my b-day.

I had another thought for a boat name. In Ayn Rand's the Fountainhead one of the characters named his boat "I do". The women he took to the boat hoped it was an allusion to a wedding proposal. But when he was younger people told him "You don't run things around here". But now, "I do".

If you like BOC you should name it "More Cowbell" :D
Aye. Or "Blue Oyster Boat". MBE: "More Cowbell" is my favorite SNL sketch. BOC saw it, and did a spoof at a real concert, where they sent the cowbell player up front.

SF: "I do" like that.

Noah/Norm: SWMBO liked Das Boot, but won't like the name.

Bamboo: Beware of what you wish for... :D

Latti: Got no spare time OR money. 3rd hand boat ownership was a fluke.

Woflman601: Great stuff: at least 2 of those describe me.

Yvsa: Something to think about... Hate to vanish into Mist & be run down by a barge.

Kamak: have seen it "Why Knot" too...

working on it...
