Not going to lighten the handle too? Also, I wonder if you can fill those pockets with something clear if they get to be a pain to keep clean. Maybe clear epoxy thats slightly recessed to avoid scratching?
I have a question for anyone who minds chiming in. I want to flatten the bevels more and I plan to do it by hand with sandpaper.
Should I do it now or after heat treat? It's not a lot of work but I thought I would need to sand again once I got it back anyway but didn't know how far I need to get now??
I would sand the bevels now,get them as flat and even as possible before H/T,leave the edge at .035,that should give you plenty to remove any decarb from H/T.The reason for sanding before H/T,is to have it as even as possible on both sides to help with warping issues in H/T.

I found a heat treat place nearby and took my knife there yesterday. He seemed to be knowledgeable although it seemed like his shop was geared toward larger stuff it was a huge nice shop. I should have the blade back next week.
But today I got the scales in the mail from its a burl and they are beautiful!! I only paid $18 for these after all the discounts he gave me. And they are bigger than he had in the description which is great because I was cutting it close. Thanks Mark.
Hey, is that an old JET belt sander? If so, can you shoot me an email? I see you don't have a link for yours. I have one as well and have a question regarding the tracking knob.
Thanks
