Help with my first Shirogorov knife...

Sure thing, the only authorized US distributor for Shirogorov is Recon1. Inventory changes daily, he has a few in right now...I think one left of the model I picked up. I decided it was best to buy from him because should any warranty issues come up, I can just send it back to them and they will take care of everything. It would have to go back and forth to Russia. This is the website...I'll actually post a direct link to the same knife I bought.

Absolutely gorgeous knife Harry......looooove that blade shape!!
Glad you went for the one you really want.....you KNOW you would. Have been thrilled with the other!!
Quick tip......super steels are best when you don't let them totally dull. Do frequent touch ups and it'll be easy keeping it screaming and gleaming!!
Enjoy it and lots of pics when she arrives!!

Oh for sure...I use some leather just about every time I use any knife, and I never let any of my exotic steels go too far, just a few strokes on the sharpmaker is all it really takes. Got it today...took a small vid. Thing is really super slick and you can tell how much time was put into this thing. It's perfect in every way...detent, centering, edge, you name it. Very happy with it...it is a big boy, that's for sure!! And yes, I will love to shoot some stick....9 ball is my game!! I'm on a table at least 2hrs a day. And other than knives, I collect firearms and pool cues as well. Just got a custom Capone cue made...took 2 years but he came thru. Snakewood galore!! ;)

When I'm not home shooting, I play at Amsterdam Billiards in Manhattan. I usually play in leagues, with no handicaps might I add! ;) I hear the hall in East Rutherford got real nice....my bro in law owns a DQ there, been meaning to check it out.

I mostly collect Bender, Capone, & Southwest. Put an order in 2 years ago for a Capone cue...took forever. Stopped returning my messages, it was a nightmare. Had to get on the cue forums and call him out in order for him to get it done. He claims he had trouble finding such a big piece of snakewood. Eh...I've waited longer for custom cues than I have for custom 1911s!!

Capone makes nice cues, but he is a complete tool!!
Played in Amsterdam tons!! Played a few tournies and one league. Was on a team with Emily and Borana.......tough to focus!!!

Emily! I used to get along with her, she blocked me on FB the other day. She posted some crap about Mrs. Trump's speech and how she should go to jail...so I posted some clips of Hilary and Nobama doing the same...made her look kinda stupid so she unfriended me. lol Told her to stick to the table and keep the politics for those with a clue.

ANYWAY....yes, Capone is a tool (like Emily) but he makes some magnificent cues. I had won a Capone cue at Corner Billiards (before it was changed to Amsterdam) in an 8 ball league a good 12 years back. It took over a YEAR to get...I should have taken the $500 in cash instead. And if you see Duddy again tell her to take that stick and....well, be creative. lol (she is still hot though...not Killer B hot, but hot) ;) Borana though.....WOW! Both Duddy and Barretta are so jealous of her...and it shows!

PS....and I love my twin RWS 52s! One in .177 and one in .22. ;) Ya got taste bro!

This thread has gone from shiro's to custom pool cues, politics to hot ladies and It's still a good thread!

Haha. I think you made a great choice on going with recon
For the purchase. Good peace of mind to have for a purchase like that.

My bad for going a bit OT...saw his sig and that he also collects cues and lives in the Garden State.

Sako at Recon1 is the man!! He helped a few of my friends get some quality knives in the past. Service was excellent, shipping took under 24 hrs. from when I pulled the trigger. I went to bed, woke up...and it was at my door in a few hrs. And yes, having the peace of mind knowing that he will take care of anything that might happen is a plus, especially on such an investment. I really took out my collection this afternoon and started to look at some of my pieces and began contemplating what I should sell or trade for another Shiro. Yeah...I am that impressed with this thing. I may even consider getting rid of some of my firearms for a few more Shiros. Nah....I do want to get one more though, a smaller one that has a little "bling" to it. For those formal settings and attire...this is a folder Rambo would pack. ;)

You nailed down Emily perfectly my friend!!! She hates ANYONE disagreeing with her about anything!!! The best is she thinks she's a professional pool player!!! PULEEEZE!!!!
Castle Billiards in E Rutherford is a great room!! Won my first Tri State as a B+ there!! Good times and lots of action!!
We HAVE to get together and hit some balls bro!!! Borana is usually there, she's a good friend and lots of fun!! Plays real good too!!

For sure!! I have yet to check out Castle Billiards, I have been meaning to go because I am no longer living in Manhattan, I'm in Drty Jrz now and I try to avoid going into the city as much as I can. I'd love to shoot some stick and talk some steel with ya. I'll PM ya. And you are right about Emily, she used to be OK but now she thinks her $hit doesn't stink because she came in 2nd and 3rd in a couple tournaments. She is "OK"...I won't take it all away from her, but she had her chance and her skill has leveled off. She isn't getting any better...even baby Fischer kicks her but. One of my friends did a photo shoot for her, and the pics look amazing...but they are really nothing like her. Like I said, she's ok...but she thinks she is far more than what she really is. I know where my skills are and where they they stop...her imagination gets the best of her. Eh...whatever. Now the Killer B has some skills and she is still at an age and place where I think she can still get a great deal better.

Again...sorry for the OT fellas. Lets see...oh, as far as the Shiro goes, I was told that I shouldn't use any kind of lube around the pivot/bearings. This is what Sako told me, but he was not 100% either. And I would hate to use something that I shouldn't...I would hate to think that if I used a certain kind of lube I might very well void the warranty? I highly doubt it. I usually play with a knife ALL day the very first day I get it so that it can break in. I really don't see how I can break this thing in though...I don't think anything needs to settle in. It really is just perfect right out of the box. I saw a YouTube vid of someone saying his Shiro got a lot smoother after he broke it in, but perhaps that particular knife used washers? Not sure.

I found a page that shows pics of all the guts of this exact model, very impressive work. I can totally better understand the heavy price tag after seeing these pics. If you don't know what they look like, check this page out!!!
