Help with sharpening...

I'm pretty sure everyone is taught how to use a pencil, I recall being taught when i was young, and I have been working with my three year old son for over a year about the "right way" to hold and use a pencil.

Thank you. :)

Unfortunately, in our society today, a lot of folks seem to think that a "real man" is born instinctively knowing how to shoot a rifle, use a knife, drive a car, etc., and that it's not really "macho" to learn from someone else with experience. :(

I guess I'm not a really "macho" guy because I had to learn just about every skill I possess. :p

Usually, from someone trained or educated in the discipline I was studying.

Learnme, I think the easiest thing to do is run to the hardware store and grab some polishing compound.

Truthfully, unless you become an "edge maniac" hell bent on whittling hair, it doesn't matter very much.

We all learn how to use tools within our abilities, some is instinctual and some is learned either by ones self or from a teacher.

Who taught the first guy to fire a rifle?
Who taught the first guy to use a knife?

My point is there is collective knowledge and individual experience.

Best of luck to you in your endeavors.

Jon.
