Alright, so the price of the Muk is too good to resist and I have decided to grab one or two, maybe three . . . well you get the idea. My question though is for all the Muksters out there that have been pushing for this knife to be released.

What I want to know is what your intended uses are for this knife? I don't want generic answers either because I know what to do with knives. This is a highly specific design and I want to know why I should buy one or more than one (and don't just say "because it's a Busse
;)).

Whether it be kitchen use, hunting or whatever, help convince me and others on the fence with this design why it is a must have.

well if i can, i'm getting at least two. one is going in my wood's kit for processing critter's. this one will be paper for the grip it provides when soaked in blood. might even do a little shelter building with it. it will never replace my pbs for skinning, but would be a nice back up blade.

the other one is going in the kitchen for food prep. i'll probably use it at my meat grinding station also. the pbs is a very handy kitchen knife. but the up sweep make's slicing length wise some what of a trick on flimsy food, pepper's cuc's, roast's. i'm still on the fence as to get it in micarta or g-10. i'm not a huge fan of g-10 feel wise but all those pretty color's are nice. now micarta feel's warmer to my hand's when working in wet condition's. and i have trusted it for year's on chopper's and slicer's.

now if i can talk the my self into working 20 hour's a day for the next three month's i'm getting one to display. the only reason is we worked for almost, what three year's to get jerry to finally release it. "never give up, no matter what". that should be on a few of the blade's released in the ganza.

I think oge14 covered the jist of what the knife is best suited for. Other than that, it's a once in a life time opportunity. According to Jerry, we won't see it again in any form.

Great examples, thanks. So are you all planning to use this more for meat and game processing, whether in the kitchen or in the field?

I'm wondering if this will make a good first Busse knife for my wife. What do you guys think? Would it work well for all things in the kitchen?

I think it would be an awesome first knife for your wife. Especially if she likes to cook. I think it would make a great all purpose kitchen knife.

That knife has game processing written all over it and anything else i can think of after it is in my hands. I want I want I want!

I could be getting into dangerous territory here. Once my wife gets a taste of INFI it could all be down hill from there.:p:D

i think it would make a very nice "thank you for feeding me" gift.

opening can's might make her a little frustrated.:D

To be honest I never understood the high demand for this knife. Oge14's explaination might be correct and thorough - but no matter how often I look at this MUK, there just ain't no love between us :(

I can see myself using that little knife for all kinds tasks. If they could make me a two handed version with a 12 inch blade, I would use it for self defense. The police would ask, "what happend to the guy who broke into your house?" And I would simply reply, "he got muk'd"

Very good post. Now you have me thinking about what handle's I want on mine. So oge14, you say paper micarta has the best grip when wet? Better than canvas micarta?

So in your opinion G-10 is more purdy.........but that's about it.....right?

It doesn't look like there is going to be enough room to rock the blade on a cutting board without your knuckles making contact. I have tank fingers though...

Corrected that for you! :p

The spine, or specifically its profile, is also great or scraping stuff out of a bowl like a spatula. I intend to grind down that little point on mine so that there is a smooth curve from the tip back. And if you're careful, you can use it like a spoon (spine side only!) for things like mashed potatoes, refried beans, etc.

Personal defense.... get some pants so she can be a Pumpkin EDC.... Seriously, someone messes with you and you pull this thing out.... "IM GONNA MUK YOU UP" Worth the price of admission alone. Hehhehehehe. Seriously, not looking to dice up any creatures anytime soon as I don't hunt... so its just a really nice slicer and cutter in a nifty small package. Also its been years in the making.... that alone is good enough for me. Whanna support all you folks begging Jerry to make this.... so I hope sales are awesome on this product for Busse. The, only then.... maybe we will see a folder.
Thx...

Just like everybody said - its going to be a perfect food prep and light camp chore knife - the thinness is just unreal in an awesome, practical way. IMHO, if this was any thicker it would lose a lot of its charm...

I'm going to get two if I can - tan canvas for general use and black paper to pair with my BWM LE...

This will most likely be my most used Busse.

thank ya, it's been my experience that micarta canvas or paper seem's to get sticky when it has blood on it. this is very true of the black paper. i have actually had to almost pry the knife from my hand when it dries on. i think that the grip is better with either of these.

now g-10 is very tough stuff, probably tougher than any micarta. i won't knock it for that. but on the other hand it just dosen't feel as "warm" or friendly to me. i really do like the color's though.

Mostly hunting, skinning, field-dressing, butchering and food prep, in kitchen or camp. No reason it can't do a lot of other general utility work as well. Neither this knife nor a lot of others are really quite as specialized as some folks seem to think.

Do you "need" 2 or more? Very different question.

Like many others, I don't really need even 1 more knife. But i'll probably get at least one because i really like it.

My main attraction for the muk is skinning deer. I usually kill 2-3 deer a year and its the perfect knife for deer and other game animals. The deep belly shape of the blade is perfect for getting in between the skin and flesh of the animal without cutting into the meat or cutting through the hide.

Its a great bushcraft knife too. The full height convex grind is good for making fuzz sticks and curls for fire making. Its not a good fillet knife for fish, but its perfect for cleaning fish by cutting off the head, tail and gutting the fish.

I'll use it for food prep too, mostly cutting up meat and veggies. I bet it would be good for cutting up a whole chicken.

I think its a all round great knife for any outdoorsman who hunts, fishes and camps. I think Jerry hit a home run with this knife.
