Help with the MUK . . .

My main attraction for the muk is skinning deer. I usually kill 2-3 deer a year and its the perfect knife for deer and other game animals. The deep belly shape of the blade is perfect for getting in between the skin and flesh of the animal without cutting into the meat or cutting through the hide.

Its a great bushcraft knife too. The full height convex grind is good for making fuzz sticks and curls for fire making. Its not a good fillet knife for fish, but its perfect for cleaning fish by cutting off the head, tail and gutting the fish.

I'll use it for food prep too, mostly cutting up meat and veggies. I bet it would be good for cutting up a whole chicken.

I think its a all round great knife for any outdoorsman who hunts, fishes and camps. I think Jerry hit a home run with this knife.

Is it a full height convex grind or a flat grind w/ a blended edge?

I can see myself using that little knife for all kinds tasks. If they could make me a two handed version with a 12 inch blade, I would use it for self defense. The police would ask, "what happend to the guy who broke into your house?" And I would simply reply, "he got muk'd"

Yeah, muk'd-up!:D

Looks like averyone sees this as a good camp/kitchen/skinner knife. For food prep chores, I think a satin version is best, especially relative to kitchen higiene. So I guess the configuration of this offering is just about perfect. I would love one myself but I have other investment priorities at the moment, but this is a one shot deal and it seems perfect for those of us who are camp-fire chefs. I would like to try flipping pancakes on a iron camp grill with a hog-muk. Chris Reeve also used to make a cool skinner based on the Nessmuk design (presently discontinued but still available). I think this is a vesatile camp blade design for cooking and eating.

I have used this larger one for everything from food to camp chores to protection. I imagine a smaller one would be even more useful for a lot of those chores. This pic was taken right after I got it awhile ago.
