By chance does anyone happen to know forum member thedogpound2? His name is John Butler and he lives in East Macon, GA.

Here is why I ask:

We agreed to make a trade on 3/30 and we were both to ship via priority mail with DC.

He emailed me on 4/3 stating he had received the knife I sent him and was very pleased with it.

On 4/5 I requested (via email) the DC# because his end of the trade had not arrived. I received no response.

On 4/6 I requested (via email--this time through BF) the DC# because his end of the trade had not arrived. I received no response.

On 4/7 I again requested (via email) the DC# because his end of the trade had not arrived. I received no response.

As of today (4/10) I have not received his end of the trade nor a response from him.

Latest: As of today (4/21) I have not received his end of the trade nor a response from him.

I have also looked up his phone number on whitepages.com (it matched his mailing address to the letter) and have called him twice. Both times there was no answer and no answering machine turned on so I could not leave him a message.

If anyone knows this gentleman, I would sure appreciate your help getting in touch with him.

The last time he was on BF was 4/1.

Here is the for trade thead:

THANKS!

Sorry to hear this bro, I don't know the guy, but I hope everything works out ok on your end...

BTTT just in case someone knows thedogpound2 (John Butler)....

If it's the same guy, from East Macon, GA, he RIPPED ME OFF under a different username on another forum! Be very careful if it is the same person! He says he also does not list his email in his profile because as he says "there are alot of nutters out there"!

Is it appropriate to post the thedogpound2's mailing address and email to see if it is the same person that ripped off DankwonDo??

How many people live in East Macon, Georgia, are named John Butler, and rip off Bladeforums members? I doubt this is a case of mistaken identity -- go ahead and post all the info you have.

I thought that name sounded familiar: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=467116

I remember banning 9050 -- he sent a bunch of obscene and insulting PMs apparently at random, to members who hadn't done anything to enrage him. We never did figure that one out. Loony, I guess....

I've looked a little deeper into this and confirmed they are the same person, and he had a couple of other accounts here too. Looks like he stopped being "thedogpound2" and started being "georgiaknifeworks" and under that identity he last posted today. I'm banning all his accounts and I think it's time for you to contact his local police and the post office if the mails were involved in this fraud.

9050 was banned already; I'm now banning

Damn, guys like this really need to be arrested, charged and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law.
Hopefully one of the Georgia good guys will do what they can to help.

If not I have a new 2X4 and am up for a road trip!!!!!

What a slimeball. Sorry to hear about that tiburon. I remember seeing that georgiaknifeworks username just a couple days ago. Good to know he won't be around here anymore. Good luck to you getting some justice.

Cheers,

I'll bet when you described him as a gentleman in your post, you were thinking some other more accurate terms in your head.

Honestly Broos, There were one or two other words I considered substituting for "gentleman." : )

After buying/selling/trading with so many quality people over the years on gun and knife websites I became complacent and did not perform my due diligence. I searched his most recent forum name before we traded, but I did not try searching under his real name.

I should also have done what many other members do: If the person has no feedback, he/she sends his/her end of the trade first.

There have been a couple lessons learned for me....

That's him! JOHN BUTLER! He also goes by;

JJBKnives
Pionex Elite

One of the fellow members here who also got ripped off by him sent me some past posts from The Good, The Bad, The Ugly on this guy. A total scum bag of the lowest order!

The mail was definitely involved! Has anyone ever reported a rip-off artist to the USPS or to that individual's local police? Does either entity take the loss of a $100 knife seriously?

I bet his wife would be some upset if we all started to call HER at work concerning her hubby's scamming ways.

That type of info is quite easy to find.......................

I don't know if the USPS will offer assistance... He never mailed you anything. If he had mailed you an empty envelope or the wrong knife, then they would probably have something to go on, but it doesn't hurt to ask them anyway. However, the local police on your's and his end may likely be interested in following up as he has a history of intent ... He's swindled more than one person so far, right? It sounds like fraud by deception, and across state lines. It doesn't hurt to try to file charges against this person, and it wouldn't cost you anything except time to pursue the matter. I hope that you get satisfaction in one way or another. Sorry to hear of your troubles.
