Henry Beige (#37) wins Old Big-mouth's multiple landmark GAW

Funny it never occurred to me that "fling" and "sling" differ only in the point of articulation of their initial voiceless fricatives. And yet they're unrelated, if we can believe the first dictionary I checked.

Congratulations Henry Beige! :) And you Jer, for all the milestones :)

I'm gobsmacked.

Thanks to the aptly-handled Mr. Porch for a cool giveaway, and to the entire porch for some entertaining and well-chosen quotations.

Thank you all for contributing. I admire the original stuff.

I wish I could think as fast as that Wilkes that Meako quoted, but maybe if I were snappier with my ripostes I wouldn't have lasted this long.

Bugs Bunny would be an exemplary human being, if he weren't a rabbit.

I was signing an obituary guest book yesterday (a former neighbor I hadn't seen in years who made it to 97 in her own house).
They said no copyright material please, which for some reason reminded me of the Gilligan's Island where Mrs. Howell was coaching the skipper on wooing Mary Ann with poetry: "The boy stood on the burning deck. His feet were full of blisters".

Oops! Somehow I missed the announcement of the winner here!
Congrats on winning the intriguing knife, Henry Beige!:thumbsup: I was hoping maybe you'd choose a quotation from a different role for Slim Pickins in your avatar; he had some enthusiastic utterances in Blazing Saddles, I think. :D
Thanks again for the generous and entertaining GAW, Jer, and congratulations again on the triple milestones.:thumbsup: And I have to ask, what IS that "comma-shaped" blade on that knife, anyway???

I don't know why tha didn't occur to me. Slim has some great lines in Blazing Saddles, Strangelove and One eyed Jacks. The only ones I can rattle off from memory, though, are from Rancho Deluxe.

"Was I just a commoner, or was I a member of the Pharaoh's royal court?"

"Ditto!"
"T' Hail with you, I'm workin' for Mel Brooks!"
"Somebody's got to go back to the ranch and get a whole s[tercus]-load of quarters".

GT, Camillus called this a blunt-nosed skinning blade, or words to that effect, so probably meant to not spill the guts inopportunely.

Thanks for the blade info, Jer.
And thanks for some Blazing Saddles Slim Pickens' lines!:D
I'd completely forgotten about, "Ditto!" :p

You're welcome.
I saw Blazing Saddles a few times in the early days of cable tv. Might be scarier if I didn't remember it pretty well than that I do.

Congratulations on the milestones screened porch screened porch and on the win Henry Beige Henry Beige ! I had not intended to enter this GAW, though I had meant to contribute in some manner or another. However, it plain left my mind as work has been rather busy as of late and my kids are engaged in their "end of school year" activities. As I am a rather voracious reader, I have all sorts of nonsense or otherwise packed in my head, I definitely could have come up with something... Next time perhaps.

The C-3 arrived today. It is a very handsome piece, in splendid condition. I should have expected it, but the size took me a bit by surprise. It is thicker than a Buck 110 due to the second blade, a bit longer, and noticeably heavier. Any fan of the Buck 110 would love this knife.

Thank you again.
