Here Are Some "AK-47" Destructive Tests & Other Technical Info. ((Cool Pics))

The AK 47 is an incredible weapon, I would like to see an original AK come out like in the original configuration. I've had a few, and this is the one I have now.. It is saber grind. An original samurai blade with wrapped handled would be an incredible Busse design.

I Love the AK's :thumbup::D

Would love to see a satin w/black paper if any of you HOGS have one :cool:

If not, hopefully the great infi Boss is listening :D

Here is some of the technical and test data that we have put together on the New American Kensei 47 (AK-47).

We went with 3/16” thick stock in order to make it light and fast, the AK-47 has both of these attributes. We followed much of the traditional geometry in order to make it a strong and wickedly efficient cutter.

The grinds are so unique on the new AK-47 that we will soon have a patent pending on the process. We call it a “CC Bevel”. The CC Bevel is convex and allows us to offer the absolute accuracy and repeatability of CNC technology with greatly improved performance over traditional grinding methodologies. When compared to flat grinds or traditional hand ground convex blades out of the same material and heat treat, there is a marked increase in both strength and flexibility. The edges are taken to near “Zero” prior to coating and are left very fine for cutting soft targets. We went with a more traditional style point as opposed to what is commonly referred to as the “Americanized Tanto Tip”. The American style tip is typically stronger but greatly reduces slashing power while the more traditional tip allows for much better full length cutting performance and point penetration. With the enormous strength of an INFI foundation on this blade, we were afforded the opportunity to incorporate the better slashing tip design.

Many of these pics are of destructive testing and “intentional damage”. We believe that the consumer has the right to know what their equipment can stand up to without having to destroy their own personal gear in order to find out. Many of these tests are very dangerous and should not be duplicated.

Here’s something that you should NEVER do with a sword. We only did this in order to intentionally destroy an AK-47. . . Amazingly it didn’t harm either the blade or the handle. This sword was thrown over 25 times at this fallen tree with a great amount of force. Here you can see the AK-47 just prior to impact in this photo below. That's Garth showing off his championship throwing technique. Nice job Garth!!!! Yes, he actually gets paid for this! :eek:

Here it is AFTER impact. Photo below.

The photo below is for those who might question how hard the AK-47 was being thrown. These are a couple of imprints of the handle in the base of this tree where the sword struck it flat on its side. This force level of side impact and vibration would destroy most swords.

Here’s a impromptu flex bend with the tip in the tree. The AK-47 sprung back to true after this bend. Photo below.

Here’s the way to really destroy a sword. The tip is locked 2 inches in the vise. The blade was painted orange for the photo in order to make it easy to see. A long section of pipe was slipped over the butt of the sword for leverage. Photo below

Here’s a cut-away view of the grind geometry. The convex grind is taken to near “zero” at the edge and is designed to offer the best in strength and cutting efficiency. Photo below.

damn, nothing but red Xs

Glad I got mine. Those things sat in the company store for a loooooong time.

I've got a few Civil War and WWII Japanese swords but they just hang on the wall but once I got the AK-47 I was able got actually use it to cut some stuff. I've swung plenty of axes and machetes but this sword really lets you see how devastating a blade can be in the right hands! If you don't get out there and use it you are just (insert banned emoticon here.)
