The town of Bowie, TX has a new monument:

And BTW the people that live here pronounce it like "buoy".

How long does it take to sharpen? What angle is the edge? Hollow or flat ground? Is it an even grind?

Spec I have found so far:

Blade - Stainless steel (type unknown at this point)
Hilt/Handle - wood
Guard - Brass
Length - 20 ft 6 in.
Weight - 3000 lbs
Cost - estimated cost about $170K, all from private donations, the largest being $100K

I found a schematic diagram, but it is too small to read. Any enlargement at all results in a lot of blurry lines and blobs.

Hopefully, additional details will show up later.

Wow😱 that's the biggest western w49 I've ever seen .
But it's stainless Steel, so I guess it would actually be a bear&son gold rush Bowie
( basically a stainless copy of the long gone w49 )
Looks like Paul Bunyan dropped his knife 😁

looks to be sitting on its whetstone, i have made a few monster bowies in my time but i have been 1 uped , figgers a texan would do it

Kinda heavy for the belt, what kind of suspenders would be best for distributing the load?

You were right the first time. :D

Western made them in stainless from 1967 to 1972ish. Model S649. Later, after Camillus bought the brand in 1992, around 1995 or so, they started making the W49 in stainless.

That is the way we pronounce it down South, y'all. We are not Britishers and so pronounce it Boh wee. Jim Buoy (Bowie) and David Bohwee (Bowie) are different animals altogether.

In immortal words of Crocodile Dundee: "that is not a knife, THIS is a Knife!":D

Imagine that monster "bu-oy" IWB?.... Concealment fail LOL...:D

At least this one is practical:
