Here it is: My Second Knife

I'M HERE!!!

And that looks super super good! I bet it looks better than the pictures in person too! I'm terrified of working with carbon fiber, just because it's nasty. I really like how that one looks, with two main colors, and a spacer.

Hi Dave , Yea I bet that carbon stuff is real bad . A lot of this stuff is real bad . I need to improve my dust collection system .

I think the knife looks real good but I need a spine shot to see those dovetailed bolsters ( as I call them ) . I like the angle cut though it really adds to the looks .

Now whats this stuff about pushing your limits ?

I'm with Jack. I don't think we pushed your limits at all. I just think you set yourself a much higher standard.

Carbon fiber? I'll take y'all's word for it. Micarta and G10 are bad enough.

Lookin' good Dave!

I've heard bad things about G-10 , so what did I do ? I bought some of James Todd G-11 . It just looks so pretty on a knife . I plan on having a tile shop cut the scales for me though .

Thanks Mike and Jack. I have a shot of the bottom but I'll have to get a shot of the spine. The spine doesn't match up (I missed it) but the bottom matches up.

O'Neill,

I figure with a knife that small it should at least have a taper on the handle. As it is, since I used small pieces for the material (the wood was a small sample piece that I got from a customer), I could see that it was going to be a little thin. plus the carbon fiber was thinner than the wood so a tapered the wood down to the thickness of the carbon fiber.

I am truly pleased that you approve. :)

With these smaller blades that I have I am able to use small pieces of wood, samples or scrap, that cost little or nothing for the handle.

I still get a kick out of being able to take something like a file or a piece of wood and turn it into something like a knife or a set of grips.

The wood on the file blades was scrap from a $5 sample piece of wood (or scraps from material given to me) that I will be able to make a $45 set of 1911 grips. Those knives cost nothing but my time (which I have in excess).

Thanks
